Hi dear friends!
Merry Christmas to all of you and a happy new year (in advance). I am here on mylot for pretty long time and have responded to numerous discussions. I see some of the discussions, which are related to adding/deleting friends here on mylot and these kind of discussions keep surfacing off and on. About friends, I have observed the following :-
(a) there are some users who just add you for the sake of it, I mean just to increase their tally of friends and would never participate in your discussions;
(b) there are some users, who add you and would sometimes appear in your discussions;
(c) there are some dedicated users/friends, who make it a point to participate in your discussions, as soon as they get an opportunity.
(d) there are some friends whose discussions you invariably enjoy and would take part in those discussions, irrespective of their reciprocal activity;
(e) another kind of users are who become your good friends and they invariably take part in your discussions, irrespective of the fact, whether you join them in their discussions or not.
(f) the best one are those who are your close friends on mylot and both of you make it a point to participate in each others discussions, without fail.
I am really lucky to have all the above kinds of friends and naturally I appreciate those, who invariably join me in my discussions and revert for their comments/counter comments. I feel indebted to them for their constant support. There may be some other categories of friends, which I may have forgotten to add. I would like you guys to add more categories for friends, if you feel like and which you might have observed, during the course of your journey here on mylot and the second and important question is - to which of the above categories do you belong to or could relate to.
Dpk
PS – this post is based strictly on my own opinion and it is not intended to offend any of the users. My due apologies to those, who may take it otherwise.

I liked your avatar and it progressed from there into a good quality friendship I want for lifetime. I dont think participating without fail is feasible. Because that decreases the quality of responses. I cant possibly be discussing archery with a friend who is an archer out here, much as I might share his or her taste in music. That is the point. But at times I feel inclined to participate even in such discussions, to show some sort of - well friend, I know you are from another planet, but still I know that you are my friend, kind of thing. :)

Vandana!
Thanks for selecting an avatar, at last. It is really looking very cute, like my baby.........lol! Excellent choice, I must say.
Oh! It was my avatar, which did the trick..........lol! But I cannot survive, I mean I just cannot be a good friend only on the basis of my avatar, I need to participate in my friends discussions and should interact with them through comments/counter-comments, which I try to do. I agree with you that participating without fail is feasible (in fact I wanted to add a sentence after that with some exception, however, I overlooked). I know you cannot discuss archery or wrestling with a friend..........lol!
Many thanks for kick starting the discussion and be my good friend.

Hi Chaitra!
Your response made me laugh.......lol! I just noted down few observations about different categories of friends here and converted those observations into this discussion. I did not go for much research work........lol! It is always a great feeling to read friends responses and share our views with them. Thanks a lot for joining us.

I too tend to do that. But at times, the discussion may have moved a page or two down. So what comes before me, I tend to pick from that first. Clear and then look for my friends. In general, I too seem to have developed my own friend circle. Initially, it was not my intention. I wanted to move across all groups. I still try that. :)

I would slot you in the last category, as you are there most of the time, in my discussions, provided you have seen the alert and you have time to respond and it is always great fun to read your responses. Thanks for being the first one to open the discussion.

I promise that if I leave mylot, I'll keep you informed. Thanks once again for beign a wonderful friend.

Hi Sara!
I must appreciate that you invariable join me in my posts with your wonderful and meaningful responses and you have always been a source of my inspiration and motivation. Dear friends like you always are precious and without their responses, my posts remain incomplete. Thanks for being with me always and for all the favors. I know that many a times, I am not able to participate in your discussions, because I cannot relate to some of them (please do not take it otherwise.). I value your friendship very much and will continue to do the same. Happy holidays and festive season to you.

Hi Deepak,
Thank you very much for your nice wishes and I too wish you a very Happy Christmas (I think not in advance, Christmas is near).
I think you definitions are correct, some are just joining in mylot, adding some friends but failing to understand the importance of participating discussions in an appropriate manner. Some are starting many discussions in a day and failing to reciprocate to the responders and within a week or two they may disappear from the forum. But some are very dedicated and always makes a point to join to their friends and other member’s discussions. Those people are very serious in mylot. I too have some dedicated friends in mylot and I am happy with their attitude and support. Here I would like to express my gratitude to all of them including you.

Hi Sree!
Thank for your reciprocal wishes. You are in agreement with me that many of the users do not understand the importance and intent of adding a friend here on mylot and they do not revert for participating even in a single discussion of yours. Some of the friends add you and you just cannot relate to their discussions and don't get a chance to take part in their discussions. I know that you have a very good and dedicated group of friends, who join you in almost every discussion of yours to lend their support. Have a nice day!

(c) there are some dedicated users/friends, who make it a point to participate in your discussions, as soon as they get an opportunity.
"i always try to track down my friends topic...after reading and replying to my topic comments...i always go to friends started"
(d) there are some friends whose discussions you invariably enjoy and would take part in those discussions, irrespective of their reciprocal activity;
"if it is the same with my interests...i would surely participate..."
(e) another kind of users are who become your good friends and they invariably take part in your discussions, irrespective of the fact, whether you join them in their discussions or not.
" i do...i had few friends here in mylot,that i almost participated on their discussion,thu,they seldom participate or response to my discussion...it's fine with me"
(f) the best one are those who are your close friends on mylot and both of you make it a point to participate in each others discussions, without fail.
"yes,i always make a point to participate to my close friend's discussion,i always do..."
Happy Holiday

I find that you are there most of the times to share your views with me and without your participations, my discussions remain incomplete. I am also preveleged to be your friend and our association is pretty old here. Yes, it is true that what best friends should experience while interacting with each other, we have experienced here.

I don’t remember how we ‘met’ Deepak but I have enjoyed your discussions since. I would say that I am between an "(e) another kind of users are who become your good friends and they invariably take part in your discussions, irrespective of the fact, whether you join them in their discussions or not." and an "(f) the best one are those who are your close friends on MyLot and both of you make it a point to participate in each others discussions, without fail."
I value my friends here on the Lot and I will always respond to their discussions first unless it is a topic I cannot relate or contribute anything to, which does not happen all that often.
Best wishes to you and your family for the Festive Season Deepak!

Hi Deepak
I do not know to which catagory I belong to. Because, who ever responds to me, I will make it a point of giving comments to them, though if not immediately, but when ever I find time but definitely I will give comments and respond to their discussions also without fail. This is my nature. Though lots of friends are there in my friend list, only handful of friends are taking part in my discussion. Regarding your above discussion, what you feel and say is my feeling and word. Because it is true to my knowledge and I totally agree with you

I think the meaning of friends here on Mylot is to help you by responding to your discussions that you start here. But I know people can become really busy and don't have the time. It would be nice if my friends would reply to discussion I started if I replied to one of their discussions.

I think we all have all those kinds of friends. If I have to talk about myself, I surely do not post in every discussion of my friends because I do not like to post whatever comes to my mind. I participate in only those discussions where I can post quality responses and which are interesting to me.
Many may feel offended by my attitude but responding to a discussion which I know nothing about is really not welcome. I prefer to respond to a few of my friends. I do have some friends who make it a point to participate in my discussions and I am grateful to them for that. I am sorry that I cannot do the same but I will only participate if I find the discussions interesting. Thank you for starting such a nice discussion.

Hi sagnik!
There is no harm if your are choosy in responding to friends discussions, I agree with you that if one cannot relate to any discussion, there is no use of writing frivolous responses. It is always better to share our views, where we are well aware about the topic of discussion. Thanks very much for joining us and sharing your own thoughts.

I love to share my thoughts. It is just that in the offline world nobody cares about them.
So, I force my online friends to at least take a look at them. I am not sure I do them any help with my thoughts and views but I believe that I do the exact opposite most of the time.

Hi Dpk,
I have also seen serval discussions on mylot that some mylotter would like to delete some of their friends who are not active or as of other reason and it is lucky that you could list a kind of category of your friends in mylot. I did not quite pay attention on the friends which kind of friends they are. Basically I will accept those friends who required to invite me. Now it seems that some of friends inviting me seldom reponded my discussion and sometimes I would like to delete them, but I seldom did it.
More friends invited, more help for your discussion as different guy will have different interest topic in mylot. I will not delete the friend unless he did some harm on me.

Hi Dpk,There is a point here, I am not here for so long, but I can feel the situation you mentioned. I see that most of my friends are not active here. Since they invite me as their friends, and I think the guy who are positively inviting friends will have a lot of friends that they don't have enough time to repond every discussion of the friends posted.

yeah I can see where your coming from. I am new here and am just making some friends they aren't really good friends yet. I send friend invites for people I like how they start discussions. as for me reading every single person response I can't do that there's just not enough time in a day if you want to make plenty of responds. I do read the start of the discussion if it is in detail. like yours for instance. well detailed and good opinion details.
