hi fellow pinoy lotters!!! here in the philippines, aside from the government mandated 13th month bonus, some companies give out christmas bonuses as well. other's go as far as giving out 15th month bonuses as well. still others just contend themselves with the usual 13th month bonus and the usual corporate give-aways. these gift are usually received with much dismay by employees as these gifts do not meet the standards of these employees. gifts usually range from gift baskets which include the usual ingredients either for spaghetti or fruit salad, fruitcake, a gift bag which contains ham, 'quezo de bola', chocolates, and chips, or promo items such as shirts, caps, calendars, and mugs which the comapny had a surplus of. lol!!! these kinds of gifts, although well-meaning on the part of employers kinda gets tiring and boring after a couple of years and makes one wish that the company give out more cash instead. hahaha!!! i've recieved all of the above-mentioned items with my different tenure at different companies. i got a gift bag from my current company and i got the recipes for spaghetti, a can of fruit cocktail, chocolate chips, and a bag of chips. looking forward to getting the promo items though as my supevisor and trainer are bringing shirts, caps, and hoodies from their trip abroad to our international head office. just wanted to get everyone's thoughts here about company christmas give-aways. were you happy with what you got this year or do you wish that your company could have put more thought into what they are giving away during the holidays? cheers!!!

I like those kinds of giveaways... i received the spaghetti ingredients when i was still working as a teacher... and now that i have a full time and part time job... i don't get those kind of company Christmas treats... i've been getting fruit cake from my boss for two years now... and from my part time job... i got an oven toaster... which i think is cool because i don't have one yet... well, these items are better than nothing at all...

hi tere. spaghetti ingredients?!! yeah, i had received a couple of those gift baskets as well. just noticed that it's either spaghetti ingredients like noodles, spaghetti sauce/tomato sauce, and canned meat or the furit salad basket that has canned furits, bottles of sweet beans or whatnot, a can of condensed milk, and cream, that's quite popular among companies. another popular gift item are fruit cakes or fruit baskets. anyway, interesting to know that you hold two jobs, a full time one and a part time one. i've been plannin got do the same since i have a set schedule for my full time job and i'm looking for a part time one that starts late evening since i get off at my current job at 7pm and start my shift at 10am so i figure i can squeeze another 4 hours in part time work there and still ahve enough sleep. just ideas tossing around in my head i guess. care to share what your full time job and part ime job are and what are the schedules of each? thanks! appreciate it. cheers!!!

We got the usual give away from our company. Canned goods, breakfast items, Holiday Ham, juices, etc. It's nice to see companies like these give items out during the holidays.

hi! yes, it is nice to get gifts such as this from companies. sort of like another employee benefit. the gifts do help but after receiving the same gift for a couple of years, it does get tiring so i understand how that feels. anyway, i'm glad you got a holiday gift from your company. cheers!!!

Hi there allen0187! I know what you mean about all these gift baskets. It's funny because although the food in basket is something that can be prepared for the noche buena, they could have given something all of us can truly be happy about. Most of my co-workers have big families and the contents of the basket can only feed and satisfy about three people. The company also have given out calendars. I'll get my calendar when we go back to work on the 4th of January.

Hi there, I was only employed there in the Philippines from one company and they do usually give out Christmas bonuses or gifts aside from the 13th month pay. I've also received something similar to what you've gotten, like the gift baskets containing all sorts of grocery stuffs. However, I usually only give this to my mother since she benefits more from those than me so I eventually give them away anyway. But I did receive gifts like shirts and mugs and I appreciate them as well. The most expensive, if I may say, that I have received from my former employer there in PH was an Ipod Shuffle and I am very grateful for that. Although my former company also does Christmas parties and they oftenly raffle out prizes. The most extravagant grand prize that they have given was a Toyota Vios car. How I wish I won that. Heheh. But, anyway, given the current economic condition globally, I'd appreciate whatever these employers can give.

said give away really depends on the "culture" or maybe industry your company is in. I have been with a telco company and been enjoying said gift baskets turned into electronic cash that we may use in paying for groceries, medicines, bills or loads.

hi lovcie. first off, welcome to mylot. just stick to the rules and regulations of the site and you'll do well. for any questions or clarifications, feel free to chat with the site admin or with the more tenured members of mylot. you will find out that the mylot community is a very helpful bunch. back to the discussion on hand, one of the few things that give me joy in life, getting an old discussion of mine bumped out of nowhere. it is nice to see that instead of the usual gift basket, you guys are getting ecash credits. i think employees will find better use for that rather than the items in a gift basket. again, welcome to mylot and see you in the mylot discussion boards. cheers and happy mylotting!!!

When I was working, I'm so lucky for I usually got Christmas bonus from my employers. The bonuses range from cash to the usual noche buena ingredients. Whatever bonus I got, I wholeheartedly and happily received them. For I always believe that it's the thought that counts. The best thing to do is to understand that bonus is something that is not the obligation of the company. It is sort of a gift. And just like all other gifts, it should be received with gladness. If the bonus is more than what you expected, then rejoice. If it is less than what you think you should be receiving, be glad still that you got something. (Think of the others who don't even have 13th month pay or any bonus at all.) If you did not get one this year, you should think of the others who were just laid off their work.

My husbands companies has a few sweepstakes type things but they don't allow any one from the store enter and no one in your immediate family isn't allowed either. But they do give out Christmas bonuses every year and they are a pretty nice amount so it sorta of makes up for not being able to enter in the sweepstakes. i am pretty happy with the bonus husbands companies gives out but they are a small locally owned business and tend to take good care of the loyal employees like my husband.
