I highly doubt they would do that. If they would get caught, they would spend a long time in jail. It's not worth the risk. Would you risk writing and distributing a virus if you knew you would be spending 10-20 years in jail if you got caught?

I can see your point catlady. Let's say I'm a good virus writer, and I do it for the sake of proving myself that I could do better, and when an anti-virus company learned about what I did, if they are willing to put thousand dollars on my face, just to tell them how to destroy the virus, I would gladly take the money,. Did the company need to reveal itself? It may or may not.
There are a lot of possibilities. And I would like to thank everyone for sharing your views. This question has only been between me and my conscience. lol. Now, it's out on the open, some opposes and some agrees. It's really good to know it!

The possibility of getting caught would prevent you from ever telling them.

Well, it could be possible. Yet, it is difficult to prove, unless there is a proper evidence. And evidence is very hard to gather.

Yeah, the secrets would be well guarded and difficult to guard against.

wow..what a different perception..I never had a thought like this..But after reading your discussion, I really get a suspicion..I feel if this could be true..It could be a real fact too. But kings in the anti-virus field does not need such type of marketing for them..They have their own reputation that can bring the customers to them.

It would make sense for them to be making the viruses :) More business for them!!!
But , the viruses are just made by those who want to see the world burn, or are criminals who want to extort money from companies.

Thanks for sharing your views on this. But why do you think there are a lot of viruses in this world? do you think everyone is opposed to other nations? I personally feel that if it's about terrorism, the Defense Secretary or Soldiers are the one involved. thanks again!

I am glad that I'm not the only one who had this little theory. It's very possible I think. A lot of them are made by people who just decide to cause havoc for whatever reason. But in the back of my mind, I think some viruses are cooked up by the anti-virus companies. After all, if there are no viruses, then they really would not have a business. So yeah, I agree, there is a distinct possibility that some of these anti-virus companies may be using methods to help boost the sales of their products.
