We buy things mostly because we need them. There are also other reasons why we purchase them. We buy shoes for a lot of reasons, too. Do you buy a pair of shoes because you need it? Or because you like the style, its price and the comfort it gives you?

Hi!Buying shoes is not my fancy. Honestly, i only buy shoes when i need it or when all my shoes are worn out already. Occasionally i buy when i have to attend a gathering or event. Its worth to buy expensive shoes because it is so comfortable to wear and usually lasts longer.

Hi Triplejazz, Thanks. I may not like shoes as much as I like clothes, lol. But my shoes have grown in number because some shoes don't go with some of the clothes. I only buy shoes which are reasonably priced and not the very expensive ones. I always think that with the extra price of the shoes, I can still buy a blouse or piece of clothing with it, lol. But you are right ... expensive shoes are very comfortable and durable and in the end, saves you money as they last longer. You don't need to buy shoes at short intervals.

Yes, I buy the basic colors most of the time. They can go with almost any color.

Right, if you want to really save from buying according to color of your dress, you may buy the basic colors, black, brown and beige.

When I used to work in an office, I loved to buy shoes, just to match with my outfit and bags. Now, I am a housewife with 3 kids, so I need to spend wisely and within my budget. So now, I buy shoes for the price and mainly comfort. I will think twice before buying.

Hi, Sarina. Like you, I have slowed down on buying things for myself. Because I used to work in a bank, I felt I needed to "update my closet" from time to time. I enjoy buying clothes, shoes and bag that complement with each other. I have plenty of shoes, clothes and bags and I used to give them out to cousins and other relatives when I don't like using them anymore. Things are different now, especially that I am a single parent. I think twice, thrice and a lot of times before buying a thing for myself. I give priority to my children's education and necessities in the household.

Hey, I'm glad you think that way too. Like you, I give priority to my children, their education and of course household necessities. I spend within my needs and most importantly just be blessed and happy with what I have. Have a great weekend ahead.

That is a matter of opinion. I believe I buy shoes because I need them, but my husband grumbles, "No one could possibly need 20 pairs if shoes."

I only buy shoes when necessary. They are usually sneakers though because that is what I wear most offen in the cold weather. During the summer its usually sandals. I have enough shoes that I will probably not ever have to buy another pair in my life.

Hi, Lelin. We buy shoes because we find them necessary. The need for shoes may differ from person to person. It may also differ according to geography or according to where we live. I understand how cold it is there and surely, sneakers are good for them. Us here in the tropical weather, often times wear sneakers and rubber shoes in sports activities that we indulge in. Season's greetings to you!

I'm 57 with 3 kinds of arthritis, so I buy shoes first and foremost for comfort. If I find a pair that's really comfortable, I'll buy them in several colours. I'm lucky, because we live in Spain, about 30 miles from one of the major shoe factories in the country. I can buy any shoes I want, knowing they'll be comfortable, and only pay between 5 and 10 euros a pair. I have more shoes now than I've ever owned in my life.

Hi, Sandra. I enjoy what I am reading. It is because I love shoes, too. I buy shoes because I want variety. I want to wear something perfect for any clothes that I wear and for what occasion. Good for you, you have the luxury of buying direct from the factories and I am sure you have a wide supply for selection. I have shoes in different colors, too, though not all the colors found in the color wheel, lol.

I buy shoes out of necessity and comfort althought lets admit that comfortable shoes can also be a bit pricey.

Hi, Joseline. I agree with you. Nowadays, especially with the hard times, we tend to prioritize what we buy according to our needs. We only buy something if it is necessary. If we need to buy shoes, one would surely choose something which he finds comfortable wearing throughout the day or longer. Some comfortable shoes may be expensive but we still can find some of those which are cheap.

Hi, Gabs. Thanks for letting me know your preference. It is surely considered a good practice. It allows you to use the pair of shoes to its fullest capacity. It gives you the money's worth of it. And --- it helps us save money. Thanks and have a nice day!

Most of my purchases are need based specially in the time of recession. Though I have a little different policy for ladies and children. I look for their comfort.

Hi, Meapas. Our buying preferences are dictated by a lot of things. We buy food because it is a necessity. For things that are of less priority, we usually think twice and examine if they are really needed at that time before we decide to buy. We buy luxury items when the budget really permits. Generally, parents give more priority for basic needs for the home and for the children.

I've never been a shoe person, and I usually just have 3 pair. A pair of sneakers, a pair to wear with dresses, and a pair of flipflops. I buy what I do buy out of necessity. Especially my sneakers. I have to wear them at work and they have to be either black or white. So, I buy the cheapest, most comfortable pair of white shoes I can find. I'm on my feet all the time at work so I wear them out quickly.

Hi, Nonersays. Yes, why do we need a lot of pairs of shoes when we do not wear them at the same time? We wear them one pair at a time, according to where we are heading. I am a bit guilty, though. I have many pairs of shoes to go with any occasion. Most of the shoes that I have are for office wear. I may buy different styles and colors but I always buy when I really need to. Sometimes I need to replace an old of shoes or I buy because it has to go with our office uniform and I don't have the specified pair of shoes. I am playing badminton and I wear a pair of shoes for that purpose. I guess, maybe, the number of shoes depends on the lifestyle a person leads.

Of course i will consider whether the shoes is comfortable. At first i will look for the style, then i can try it. If i feel comfortable i can buy it. Once i bought a pair of shoe with good style. However i only wore several times, it was very uncomfortable.

Hi, Kevin. Yes, when we decide to buy things, we choose it from among the ones on display. This we do to satisfy ourselves and to get our money's worth. It is good to buy shoes when we are not in a hurry. You have a lot of time to consider all things before paying at the counter. Most people buy shoes because they like the style and it is comfortable.

I usually look first at the style. I like wearing cool shoes, so I would never buy a pair that I don't fancy. The second thing that I look at is the price, which is the determinant point that will make me buy them or not. I admit that being confortable is the last thing I look at, maybe because I can get used to them easily.

Yes, the style counts a lot. Who would like to buy something which is a style 20 years ago? Or who would like to buy something we wouldn't like to wear? Women, most especially, tend to buy shoes to suit different clothes. In effect, they have plenty of shoes on their home racks. I, for one, like to wear shoes that fit my attire. Price is also one big consideration for me. I wouldn't buy shoes even how much I like the style if I cannot afford it.

First of all is necessity, I always buy things when I need them, not buy things because I like them, my wife will be this kind. Second I'll compare the price, style and comfort among the shoes. No. one is comfort among the three, then is price and style. I'm not a fashionable guy, fits me is good.

Hi, Chris. I am smiling here ... in the past, I was your wife's kind, too. I used to buy things because I like them. When I see something nice and good for me or for the house, I buy them. Now, I have slowed down and consider things. I consider things as necessity, price, comfort or style. Hmmm... but sometimes, price comes ahead of all these. I only buy now when the means permit. I have refrained from going to bargain sales in malls and department stores. It would be very likely that I buy things I don't really need. I am easy to tempt... lol.

I usually buy shoes based on whether I could use another pair (necessity), whether I like the style or not, and if it's not too expensive. I don't really care too much for the comfort of the shoes unless it really is a pain to wear them. I think above all though, I would look at the price and style and compare them to see if they're reasonable to me. In a sense, I don't really need anymore pairs of shoes, at least not for a while because I have plenty of shoes, so I can't say necessity is something that I would solely base my shoe buying decision on. The style of the shoe is definitely one of the most important reasons for buying certain pairs of shoes.

Hi, Ishme. Sometimes I think like you do, lol. Yes, there have been times during trips to malls, that I buy a pair of shoes without any intention to buy one. It is usually because I find the price reasonable and its style is one that I still don't have. I like shoes and dress to be coordinated (not necessarily in color). Generally, though, I buy a pair of shoes because of necessity.

But even if the style is good...I still need to be a smart shopper. I would look at the price and compare them to other shoes. Although good shoes are expensive,I might wait until its on sale or buy a cheaper one at a different story thats a similar style. Therefore I have stylish shoes but at a cheaper price. =]GENIUS! hahah But then again you can do what most asians do...BARGAIN...
