What gave us the IDEA that Humpty Dumpty is an EGG?

I was just wondering? It was never mentioned in the nursery rhyme that humpty dumpty was an egg. Ahahah and yet we have the idea that hes an egg? He could be a fragile glass or crystal or a skeleton of some kind? hehehe

You are right that hummty dumpty wasnt mentioned that the character is an egg in the nursery rhyme. But havent you saw the picture? Humpty Dumpty is trully an egg.
