i almost always feel nervous in front of an audience but never really embarrassed. This has changed however as I've got older and I don't care as much if I have an audience to talk to.

I don't have a specific thing that has happened when I was in front of a lot of people. However, whenever I have to give a speech or participate in a debate in front of a group of people, I feel embarrassed just being up in front of people. In regular life, I don't consider myself to by a very shy person. However, I have always been very anxious about speaking or performing in front of groups. As a child I used to take piano lessons and I loved playing. Every year all of the students at the school would put on a recital. I ended up stopping my piano lessons just because I was terrified of playing in front of so many people. I did participate in the recitals several times when I was pretty young and I can still remember how I would dread it for weeks. I would beg my mom not to make me do it, but I wasn't able to get out of it until I got older and insisted on stopping my lessons. I continued to practice on my own and still play today, so I really don't think that quitting my lessons hurt me any. It seems kind of silly that I was so scared of performing in front of people that I would quit my lessons. At the same time, though, that fear has never gone away for me and I still dread speaking or performing in front of others.
