What influences you in the naming of a favorite pet? Is it different with the kind of pet?

Well, mythology used to influence naming my pets. But after a bad rash of pet deaths with the Norse Pantheon, I have been naming pets more cute names.

Well it's complicated so I'll start with the cats. We had 2 bother cats, Socks ( named for the white on his feet ) & boots ( which had no white feet ). Boots was driven away by his brother. Socks had a kitten with a neighborhood stray & it stayed with him. We called him Puss because he was scared of everything & gave use the joke, Puss & Boots. Miss Callie is the stray Callico. Her other kittens ( from another litter born the next year ) are named Kneehigh , Crew ( still going with the sock theme here ) & Miss Priss. Now to the dogs ( whose name's I'm pretty much responsable for ) Voden ( a wolfdog ) was named after the Norse god of the soul hunt & leader of the hell hounds. Macha ( another wolfdog ) was named after a celtic godess of war & the hunt. Ursa ( the new australian shepard puppy ) was named after ursa minor ( the little bear constelation ) because she looks like a bear cub. Bear ( the second new australian shepard puppy ), because my daughter liked the bear cub idea.
