Too many gifts?

Basket of goodies - too many gifts under the tree.

A christmas tree looks so awesome with presents under it till they touch the lowest branches etc. But this year we had too many to fit under the tree. The gifts my daughter had for us would not fit under the tree so the basket sat in the office until time to open them. There were other gifts also that would not fit under the tree as well. Do you ever have too many gifts to fit under your tree during the holiday? HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

We make sure to put own christmas tree on top of a circle coffee table therefore we have enough space to put all the gifts underneath the tree. It still gets completely full though because there are 6 people living in our house so you have to think that everyone is getting someone a gift and sometimes there are multiple gifts involved. Plus you can help oversized gifts, like this year we got my younger sister a keyboard and there is no way that thing is fitting under any tree. So with that we'll just put it beside the tree.

How big of a tree is it? Mine is 6 feet tall and would not fit on a table. LOL HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Ours is 6 ft as well but its not a huge table. It's just under 2 ft off the ground so therefore the christmas tree, once the topper is on, touches the ceiling. That little bit of space does help a lot and thankfully my parents just happen to have the perfect table to make it work.

well i have read about times when each person only got one or two gifts. life seemed to be so much more simpler then. i think with the age of commercialism and the age of wanting it all, the presents just get to be too much.

Merry Christmas GB. No I have not had that problem, you are truly blessed to have a loving and caring family. My family is so far apart in more ways than one that we don't have that type of bonding. I also live alone and I don't even put up a tree for Christmas, I do have some lights in the windows and a wreath on the door. My daughter and the grandkids bring me a gift each year this is brought to me on Christmas day. I am not complaining though. I thank God for my health and strength and for providing for me all this year, I am still unemployed but blessed. I really admire the closeness you have with your family.

Our family is filled with shopaholics. We do sales and coupons etc all the time. We also shop early. Way early sometimes. Seems prices get jacked for the Holiday shopping seasons. My house has always been lit up big time. Even when we rented apartments it was lit up. Family tradition I guess is the reason for so many lights. Thanks bunches. It was never this close until I got clean and sober. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

My husband and I never have too many under our personal tree, but my mother in law often has them poking out from under the tree on all sides of hers. Her house is a gathering place on Christmas day, and she has gifts for so many different family members and friends under there.

Most the gifts under our tree are/were for the grandkids. Always about the kids. I'll be lost when they all grow up as far as gift giving. LOL HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Seeing as my tree is only a foot tall, yes. Haha, I can't have a real Christmas tree yet, since I still live with my mom. Next year, though, when my friend and I move in together, we'll be getting a big tree with decorations! I'm excited for then. But yes, as little as my tree is, I either put the gifts behind it, or stack the gifts and place the tree on the biggest one. Happy Holidays!

I have a small tree like that as well. It has lights and tiny ornaments on it also. It sits on my DVD stand as a decortation in the living room window. It is so cute too. One year I decorated a large plant we had with lights etc as a tree too. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

As a child I remember going to grandma's house and the gifts, for all twenty or so of us made huge piles almost as big as the tree itself. The tree was usually a western red cedar cut from one of their fields. I remember the antique decorations like the little bubble candles. Lots of memories come back at Christmas.

No, we never did. When I was growing up we had very little money so we got just one present from "Santa" then the ones we got when we went to our grandparents' houses. As a single adult, there were no presents for me. When I married and had kids I kept up the practice of one gift from Santa but added one from myself and my then-husband. The relatives sent gifts, too, so between the two boys there were 4-6 presents apiece under the tree. Just right! There's one gift under my tree now, from my sister. I'm saving it so I'll have something to open on Christmas morning.

Well we do not put presents under our tree for the simple reason that they would not be left alone and probably it would be the adults who messed with them and not the children haha! With telling the kids that santa delivers the presents we just have to hide them all until Christmas eve and then put them out when the kids are in bed, only trouble with that is there are four children in the house and two adult so our bedroom is absolutely cram packed with pressies!

Never happened to us to get that much gifts from people. Just a few under the tree, and some of them are just made up gifts - i had to wrap boxes, empty ones, to put under the tree just to see more wrapped gifts there - it's such a pretty sight.

O yes, we also have lots of gifts here and i can't wait for Christmas to open but of course i need to control myself. Under our Christmas tree i think there are estimated 50 gifts or more and i think it is almost a mountain of gifts. Some are under the Tree and some are at the side because of it's sizes are big. Merry Christmas Grandpa BOB!

I don't put up a tree anymore, I haven't put one up in years. I got my brand new stove in November from my mom no that would not have fit under a tree lol I bought a brand new computer last month yea I guess that could have fit under a tree if we had one.

I agree that a tree looks more complete with a couple of gifts under it. I have never had too many for the area though! However, we often put small gifts on a nearby table as part of a decorative scene, so that takes a few from under the tree! I'm sure when all 4 children were young there might have been times that it was quite crowded under the tree, but I managed to get it all under there! Ha!

Nope, under our tree will be bare. MY husband and son want money towards new bicycles and I don't want anything. I want them to save their money for the bikes. If you check the discussion I posted you will understand why.

We don't really have a huge family so we don't have a lot of Christmas presents to put under our tree. It must be really nice inconvenience to have, with so many presents to give out to friends and receive some too.

Happy Holidays to you too!!!! In past Christmas's we have always had a ton of gifts under the tree, but this year we do not have much. I know my husband has a few things from me under the tree and one gift from the cats. This is a tradition we have been doing for a few years now. I am hoping that by next year things will pick up with the economy.

A tree isn't like an island; they can extend outwards...I mean, I'm sure people have had tall gifts from time to time. I think next to counts as under in terms of the holidays.
