Ideas for PERFECT rolled sugar cookies?

I am struggling with how to make the perfect rolled sugar cookie. Every recipe i make turns out not good. Either they are to crumbly, to hard, or to soft and cant frost. I need to make about 6 dozen for holiday party jan 2nd so i need to figure out what the problem is fast to have time to get them all done before the party. Hoping my mylot friends might have some ideas i could try.
