Piracy should be prohibited?

I strictly feel that piracy of software and operating system should be prohibited.I dont know why the government is taking it lightly.almost 80% of the people are using pirated cds.they even dont bother to know what is piracy.most of them are unaware of that.they want the one,which is cheapest.they dont know,why is it cheaper.what is the difference between both of the cds. microsoft has launched a software,but it is successful if one has internet,from where they can track the system and counterfeit it. I think government should take strict steps to avoid these kind of piracies. I consider it a crime,one who does should be put behind the bars.
