The Rise of the crows!

Where I live in the U.K. it is suddenly very full of large black crows! Most of the year they are kinda rare so it was a bit of a suprise to see so many! They really stand out like glowing black, on the crisp white clean snow. I am wondering why there might be so many crows all of a sudden! They are supposed to be creatures of portent according to mythyology but I think they are a little early. Does anyone have any idea why there might suddenly be so many crows!? Do you think it is something to do with migration patterns? Has anyone else seen unexpected birds recently?

interesting. they had a piece on this in the news recently. there was an over abundance of crows in the niagara district (just down from where i live) in ontario, canada because of all the grapes that have been left on the vines this year due to not enough of a market for juice grapes. it seems the crows were having a heyday eating their fill of grapes. it reminded me of the Alfred Hitchock movie, 'The Birds'.
