We tend to do a lot of holiday baking. However, the baked goods are typically given to neighbors and family. This year, we have baked a lot of different types of cookies to give as gifts. We baked mint chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cut out cookies, sugar cookies and fudge.
Do you bake for your family and neighbors? If so, what do you bake. Do you only bake heavy around the holidays or do you like to bake at other times during the year to give things to people?

I'm a year round baker, lol. I have always loved to bake all kinds of stuff from breads and specialties, to pies, cakes and cookies. I do tend to share a lot with others, especially during the holidays. We just got done doing scads of different types of Christmas cookies, meringue treats, pumpkin bread and pumpkin roll, as well as different types of chocolate candies. It's a lot of fun during the holidays because I not only get to bake all this great stuff to eat and share, but I get to decorate it all with colored icings and stuff lol. (The next best thing is getting to eat them all!) Wishing you a very happy holiday time!

Yum, I would love living next to you guys! Wow, someone else with a passion for baked goods. I have to be careful when it comes to the baked goods, which is not fun. I am on a tight diet and it has been extremely hard this holiday season trying not to over indulge.
The doctor put me on a strict diet and it is sooo hard to stick to. I have slipped a couple of times already this season. It is sooo horrible, but soo good.
Happy holidays to you as well. Hope you don't mind, but, I would like to add you to my friends list here on mylot. :)

I know what you mean, it's hard during the holidays not to indulge with all that temptation sitting on the kitchen counters! Hehehe, yah, I do love to bake!! Have to laugh, my 6 year old grandson calls my stand mixer the 'cookie maker machine'. He's learning to read, so he sounds out the ingredients and measures...kinda like a work/study program lol. I would love to have you included in the friends list;-)

That is soo wonderful that he likes to be in the kitchen with you. I wish my kids did. I actually fell over this morning. My middle son actually told me that he was going to cook dinner tonight. I wonder if I should let the fire department know ahead of time. Hmmm... Where is that fire extinguisher.... lol

I like to bake year round, but mostly bake for others only around the holidays. I always make peanut butter munchie cookies. This year I also make some Candy Cane Kiss cookies and oatmeal craisin cookies. I also make Red Velvet cupcakes.

I don't usually bake that many things and i don't usually give baked goods to my neighbours. When i do bake things it's usually for my closest friends and fmaily. I really liek to make fudge. I mainly only make chocolate pecan fudge and it always turns out well. It took me a long time to find this really good recipie though. I also like to make apple pie but i don't make this as often. I also like to make chocolate chip cookies but i don't make these as often. I would like to try and experiment more this holiday season. :)

Yum, fudge. My husband made some mint fudge this year. It turned out really good. I have to hold myself off though thanks to my diet. Heck I am about ready to give up and say I will go on it after the holidays. It is sooo hard trying not to get into so many of the goodies that we have in the house right now. Driving me completely crazy.

Never bake again. Geez, that's pretty harsh. I say, let someone else do it. lol. My husband took over the majority of the cookie baking a few years ago. He allows me from time to time to bake some, but when I mention that I am going to bake, he gets very protective of the kitchen then tells me he is going to do it all. Drives me crazy some days, but, I have learned to just let him have the fun.

That's great. I love blueberry muffins. However, to make them properly you have to have fresh blueberries, which can be rather on the expensive side.
I tend to watch when we can get things on sale. Although lately, I have resorted to using frozen berries, which do work pretty well and are a lot more cost effective.
Happy Baking!
