How do you create a email mailing list?

Yesterday, I was sending out emails wishing people a happy holiday. I was doing this manually, and some of the addresses were not in my address book; plus some of them were in different addresses books (I have a couple of different email accounts). I realized that I have enourgh emails addresses of people I know who are interested in my chosen subject that I really should have a mailing list.
Now the big question is there an easy way to assemble all the information in a single list? Or is it something that I have to do manually, copying the information and then putting it in a different addesss book?
Ideas? Suggestions?

I think we can easily creating a mailing list by using yahoo groups services. And of course it's free for use. You can creating as much as mailing list you want and you can use it for many purposes. But if you want to sending mass emails, i think it would be considered as spamming other's mailbox. But if you have some friends you want to send them some greetings emails, i think you can just creating an email address list and send it altogether to those email addresses. Well, some of these email addresses are from people who emailed me asking questions about something that I wrote about. Which is why I realized how many I had already, I wondered if I could turn this into the beginning of a mailing list.
