Last-minute customers.. !

Here's my question for you: is being late/in a rush just part of human nature? Or is it just a bad habit that you have and can fix? I'm frustrated when I'm at work because I have to deal with the last-minute-rs just about every day. I usually have about 40 customers a day at the dry cleaners I work at, but the majority of them come between 6:30 and 7 (close), and a big percentage of THAT percentage come between 6:50 and 7. Now I understand being in a rush occasionally, but the majority of these people do this ALL THE TIME. And I'm not about to give them a *friendly reminder* of our closing times, just because the company (who acts as though they're desperate for ANYONE'S business) would probably kill me for saying something about it. It's just annoying, because this means that I have to stay later to get all my work done when I have 5 customers at a time waiting in line at ten minutes to close! I always seem to get angry at PEOPLE, but it got me thinking.. Is this something that's just part of human nature? (But that doesn't really explain why only certain people do this..) or is it just about responsibility and proper planning? I'm slightly offended by it because I'm ALWAYS very wary of when places close so I'm not the "jerk" that comes in while someone's trying to close, especially at a smaller business. The most I'd stretch it is I'd probably only go up until 20 minutes until close, but I almost ALWAYS try to get there at a time when they're open (stores, pharmacies, libraries, etc.) just because I know what it's like to be in that employee's shoes (from personal experience). Do you do this too? Or are you the type of person to be in a rush and arrive at the store/dry cleaners (assuming you went to one) at 6:59 when they close at 7? Do you think this is a part of human nature or just a nasty bad habit that people get into?

I have been late for work three times this month, one more late for work some money will be deducted from my salary as penalty.

I believe that it is just a nasty habit. It can be broken and nobody seems to want to break their bad habits anymore. I try to come to a store at least an hour before they close, and even then I'm very quick about what I have to do. I never come to a store when they are very close to closing.
