Do you make sure NOT to respond to problematic user's discussions?

I certainly do this. I won't respond to someone's discussion when it seems like they're egging you on, or when they're KNOWN around MyLot for being hurtful and argumentative (I'm sure you know who you are). It's pretty funny that there are INFAMOUS users, being that this is such a huge community - yet we know exactly who likes to be troublesome. I have a few questions for the people who fit this profile, starting with: WHY WOULD YOU START A DISCUSSION IF YOU JUST PLAN ON ARGUING WITH EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO RESPONDS? Does it make you feel better to try to push your point and opinions on others? (Rhetorical question: I know the answer to it. Obviously!) And are you like this in real life? Did you miss the lesson in kindergarten, where we learned our manners? Seriously. Ugh. Anyway, I didn't mean to go on a rant. My question for you is: do you do this very same thing? Avoid discussions by the "infamous" argumentative MyLotters.. like the plague?

I might respond, depending upon the situation. As you can see in my other post, I'm new, starting my second week on MyLot, so I have not seen too many trouble makers yet. However, I imagine I will. Right now I feel I will probably not answer a post that is purposely worded so you can't understand it. I do not mean people who have trouble with English, just people that do not seem to care.

Thank you for the welcome. How's it going? I'm chomping at the bits to get to the 500 rank so I can copy and paste. In other forums, when I have to write a response that requires a lot of words (you know, the religious discussion, politics, etc.) I type them first in notepad or something. That way if the computer jams on a response I don't have to retype. I can't do that on myLot right now. It has taken me about 3 hours to respond to benny128 on another discussion because the one computer jammed here after me typing in half of my response. Top it off, all the computers here are slow. So I had to come to this notebook which I am now using and retype everything. C'mon 500! Aye. I might have met a trouble maker already. There are some people here that really want an answer or a nice discussion and I will try to concentrate on them.

I seem to keep stumbling into them myself. Of course I have no problem giving as good as I get. If I recognize it was started by a troublemaker I'll likely avoid it but they keep popping up in normal conversations too.

I only response to a discussion that interest me or I have the idea to do so..I don't mind if the discussion is that kind you mentioned. I just go with flow.. Besides, I don't like to think a lot when typing a response, to find a fine idea...

I don't like responding to people who are illogical and don't have an open mind. I don't intentionally avoid their discussions, but I don't have even one such person on my friends list. In most cases, I stick to my friends discussion. I am responding to your discussion, even though you are not on my list.I believe you respect people and that is precisely why I am here responding. I think some people need to 'agree to disagree', rather than starting an argument, just for the sake of proving a point. Being civil is warranted. Merry Christmas ;)

Well, I don't know who are the infamous ones, but I admit that I don't answer to every discussion. When the theme is something I'm not interested into, I don't know about it so I can't contribute, or I see is some kind of fanatic trying to say something that really looks like he or she doesn't want other's opinions at all, then I refrain from taking part.

I think some people actually enjoy having heated arguments so they do the troll thing a bit. I guess it is kind of like teasing or something.

Not really because I don't really know who the problematic users are on mylot. I'm just trying to get posts and leave good responses to people's discussions. I do believe that we should try to avoid them though. I haven't really had to many bad discussions with people but however I do also believe that we shouldn't be afraid to state our points and support them with strong facts we just have to remember to discuss and not argue.

No, I don't respond to discussions that are controversial, as it just causes problems and it can hurt our ratings, as users will rate others negatie, and we are all trying to have good ratings here. I don't like arguing with others, as it really doesn't get us anywhere, but just causes division and hatred, and that we don't need in here. It is much eaiser to post to simple discussions that aren't controversial than get involved with those kinds of discussions. I feel better just staying away from those discussions. Good luck to you, Merry Christmas, and happy mylotting.
