Has anyone else read Stephen Kings latest book, Under the Dome?
It is a 1,000 page novel. With Stephen King I either love it or hate it. In his short story collections I'll really love one of them, and absolutely hate another. I didn't really like his novel Gerald's Game...but I LOVED The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, and many of his others. It's never anything against him, I think he's brilliant!
So what is my critique of Under The Dome? Well...I thought it was amazing! It was very disturbing and very smart. I think, if done right, this could be made in to a great movie! I would love to see big named stars (Gerard Butler! *Hint hint Hollywood!*) play the characters in this story!
I definitely recommend Under the Dome to any other King fans.

God, it's been too long since I've read fiction for the pure enjoyment of it. It's funny how academia (school) can actually make someone loathe to read. I've not read Stephen King since he first started the Gunslinger series--doesn't that take you back?

I actually don't know when he starte the Gunslinger series but I only started reading it not too long ago. But since there are, what, 6? big books in the series I can only imagine it's been a while! lol
I hope school doesn't make ME loathe reading, because I really love to! PLUS I own a ton of books I still haven't read!
If you want to get back to loving reading try Under the Dome! It's got a little of everything; humor, horror, action, mystery

Under the Dome... I'll try to remember it. I'm sure you'll remind me with some prodding... (You should the size of my "to-read" and "to-watch" and "to-research" lists, pretty intimidating). later,

I just finished Under the Dome and thought it was a fantastic read. I am a huge Stephen King fan, but don't care much for his short stories. I think my favorite Stephen King book is still The Stand, but he did a great job on Under the Dome. I love how you really get to know the characters in his novels. Lily, if you are a Dean Koontz fan you should check out the Odd Thomas books. They are incredible!

I have not brought myself to read The Stand. There are some Stephen King books I just think will be too scary for my lol.
I LOVE Dean Koontz but...I do not like ghosts! lol Doesn't Odd Thomas see ghosts? Tooo scary! :P
Yeah, you become familiar with all the characters in Under The Dome! Even the bad guys. I didn't like when you know what happened to the doggy :( *sniff sniff* lol
I like some of his short stories, but not all of them. I really liked The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon though. Really good!
Thanks for sharing! :D

He's okay, he is very very scary, some of the things he writes about makes your skin crawl and you just don't want to turn but want to turn the next page. He knows how to keep your attention and to keep you reading.

lol yes! His stories can be very very scary and disturbing! Gerald's Game was VERY weird and...I just couldn't get into it. Wasn't entertaining for me.
I did like his book Eye of the Dragon. It was a fun one! :) I didn't remember it being too disturbing, but I could be wrong...I may have to read it again some day! lol
