Why some people can be really lucky?

I've heard about a man who's always lucky, like once he won a living showcase from a raffle ticket, he won a vacation ticket from airlines promo and even won a lottery though it's not jackpot but still thousands. While others were chasing by unfortunate events like house was caught by a fire, lost a job and family. Why do you think all this things happened? Do you think it's fair?
