Personally, do you want your gifts to be in cash, rather than in kind?

There are times that I had wished they have just given the cash than bought a gift. It's because the gift was expensive but I don't have much use of it. I would rather have my gifts in cash. On the other hand, for family members, it would have a sentimental value if they give gifts in kind.

I tell everyone all the time. The best gift for me is cash. I don't think keeping a dust collector is good for me or them.

I'm a bit late responding to this. But I think there is nothing like having small gifts to open on Christmas Day, and recognising that the giver has thought about what I would like to receive. I don't like receiving expensive gifts though, and would let it be known that I'd like contributions for something I dearly wanted that was expensive. These days I do give gift vouchers to older children, but even then I find out which shops would be most appropriate to get them from.

Yes, even I prefer to get cash instead of gift as I could buy the thing that i consider to be important. But in certain cases it is not like that. Although there are times where we consider the gifts to be precious than the cash if it is from your girl/boy friend or close relation of yours and hence the concept of cash always dont work in favour. But if it is generally considered, then I would prefer cash rather than gifts. Thanks for posting the discussion and have a great day. Cheers:

If I were to choose between cash or kind as a gift, I would really choose cash. Practically speaking, we all need cash nowadays to buy things we need. If we choose to receive kind, then there's a possibility that we might not like it or we may not find it useful for our everyday living. Well, I am not saying that I don't really want to receive gifts in kind but it will be better if it's in cash.

HI Jen!
If it is my friends like you who are going to give me a gift, I would love to receive a precise gift rather than cash. I do not want to break my head in searching for a suitable gift, let my friends find out what could be good for me and what would suit me.
How are you doing? Wish you a Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!

Now a days with the economy being what it is, who could not use a little cash? I wasn't able to do much this year but I decided that rather than buy my girls a bunch of stuff that they may not need or want, I would give them some cash. I took the money that I would of spent on Christmas and had it broke down into small bills and wrapped them in various boxes. It was kind of fun. hope they like it. Merry Christmas, Jenaisle!

aha.that's really funny question and here we really prefer to receive cash than in sorts of gifts .since we may not like or need the gift at all but we can use the cash to buy things what we are like or needed. and here in China we always give cash away instead of give a gift .

if it is not food i'd rather have it in cash. most gifts are like: what will i do with this? most of the time we have the material things we need already and am not that hot with items lying around the house not being used. i guess gift cards still are not that popular yet...

HI! I prefer my gift to be in kind, not in cash, because money like gift doesn't make me feel happy, but some book or a gadget will make me very happy!

I prefer for my immediate family [my brother and his family, my boyfriend] and my close friends to give me gifts rather than cash, mostly because they give me things I love and it surprises me. But as for my godfather and godmother, as well as my grandmother, I prefer money from them. Why? Perfect example - this Christmas. I went to my giant family get-together, and my godfather got me a 20 dollar gift card to Target [I don't shop their much but I will go there now], my grandma got me a lottery ticket [because she gave me my cash earlier this year to get my license, yay!]. But my godmother got me a clothing set. Don't get me wrong, the thought is nice and the clothing isn't ugly or anything, however it isn't my size, so I will have to return it for a gift card [luckily it was from Target as well]. I need a new hairstyle badly, so I would have preferred cash so I could have gotten something I needed.
But I am thankful non-the-less. =]

Cash or present are all good gifts to me lol. Consider my current situation - just bought an old small apartment with much martgage every month, I should say I'd love to have cash as gift hehe.

I would like my gifts to be in cash because i spent too much money this christmas haha i would like to be reinburst. So i would love to have money instead of presents. But in the spirit of christmas gifts means more to me and its more thought ful. So i would be happy if half my present is money and half is present. I would really like to go to L.A this summer for acting. I have no job and i would like to save my money for that.

For me, I wanted gifts to be in kind not in cash. I have money to earn and I can buy what I wanted, but receiving gifts in kind is more rewarding for me. Then will I know how I was remembered.
The gifts given for me are for my memories keeps of the person. It is rewarding for me when I was remembered and that time made me important in his life.
When you are remembered by a person, for me it is appreciable and cannot be bought by any body. It is priceless. It gives me feeling of warmth and happiness. That in my existence, I can say someone remembered me as a person.
