Who would you save?

Imagine this hypothetical scenario: There are 3 people on a sinking boat. A pregnant woman, a small child, and your dying grandparent. If you can only save one person from the boat, who would you save and why?

First I will give a speech: "Grandpa, Grandma, you've journeyed this life for years, am I right? There's no place that you have never journeyed through. So what do you say, about this life. This is the time for you to meed God. Oh dear woman, pregnant one. At least you won't die alone. Let both of you die together, lest you will live happily up there. Oh dear child, you have not yet seen the world. Now come with me. Let us save ourselves!" Then I'll save the child. You can find the reason in my speech.

Yeah, i don't think anyone would bear seeing anyone die, especially a child and saving a pregnant woman would mean saving her and the child too. However, choosing this option is so risky, isn't it? I mean, we can never know if the unborn baby would survive the pregnancy and what happens if the woman decides to abort the child after all this? But we can never know and that's why it's up to our intuition and our first instincts because they tend to be right =)

I think I'm going to save the pregnant woman, so that the child she bear can eventually live, play and grow. So that he/she will see how good the world is... Nah, quit fooling around, If I'm on a sinking boat, I'm the first one that will die. I don't know how to swim. LOL

I would save the pregnant woman, though what a hard choice to make! The reason I would save the pregnant woman is because she is carrying another life inside her, so you would not only be saving one life, but two. The grandparent, I should hope, had lived a long and good life, and though I would feel horribly about the child, I still would feel saving the pregnant woman would be the right decision. I hope that situation never happens, though. What a sad thought!

I would save the pregnant woman first, then small child and my grandparent. For pregant woman, she has two lifes in one body. Small child will have much longer years to live than my grandparent. That's what I have in mind. hehe

It's an extremely difficult question and as much as possible, I don't want to be in caught in the middle of this horrible situation. Well in reality, I don't know how to swim so if that's the case, I think I should be the first one who needs to be saved by others. But, since we are talking about the situation you had given, then I should really try to think about the best possible answer I can give. Probably, I wouldn't really choose to save my grandfather since he is old enough and he has experienced a lot of things during his childhood years. But, choosing between a pregnant mother and a child seems to be hard. It's really hard to see people die. Maybe, I would choose to save the child. The child deserves to live for many more years because I believe he has not yet experienced the things he needs to experience with his life. On the other side, the pregnant mother is carrying an unborn child which means that the baby inside her womb was not yet formed into a human being.
