I love having cats in my house. I think they're the most wonderful animals that a person could have. They are so smart and talented, and thank GOD for the fact that I'm not allergic to them. I have a total of 4 and each one has their own personality, which is very fun to watch.

When I saw the title of your topic, allergies is exactly what I thought of. I start sneezing, and my nose starts running. My eyes get all red and start watering.
I hate it because, I love cats, I think they are awesome, but they make me sneeze. I don't like it, because one of my friends cats will come up to me, and wants some attention. But, I know as soon as I touch the cat, I'm going to be sneezing all night.

I have one male cat.
People do not like cats is because (1) they have asthma or allergies towards cats not due to the fur but the protein found in their saliva and (2) because of their droppings and urine - esp. for male cats who use it to mark their territories.

Having cats bought have positive and negative aspects. The positive aspect is that it feels satisfying when you love a certain animals like cats and you have it,animals like cats can relieve stress to humans specially if they love cats, and cats usually catches small rats at home. The negative aspect is that it is annoying to see cats specially if you don't like animals like cats, cats might steal your foods in the kitchen, fur from cats might cause allergies to others, inhalation of some cats fur particles could be dangerous to lungs and might cause lung problems to some people who are suffering to some lung related diseases such as Asthma, and cats waste are odorous in nature. Now, if you like and love cats then have it. If you don't like and hates cats then never have it.

I love cats and enjoy having them in my home. Now that I live in an apartment, my landlord would not allow me to have a cat because it would cost too much on my rent. Only time I would have problems with asthma or allergy is during springtime. I feel bad not having a cat to keep me company, although I kept old pictures of the cats I had since my childhood.

i like animals, whether cats, dogs, rabbits, bird, fish, etc. the people who say cats cause asthma or allergy are the people who hate animals and dont want anything to do with them as well as the people who are too lazy to clean after their pets. and most selfish people dont want to take care of others, especially little animals, because these people are more into themselves and their own needs rather giving and taking care of others.

As another person has already stated, cats don't cause allergies or asthma, but they can aggravate a pre-existing condition. I love cats and have had a house cat most of my life. Cats are very strong willed, but they can be trained. Anyone with a strong reaction to cat dander should consider taking shots to build up an immunity to it.

Cats don't CAUSE allergies or Asthma..
You either have them or you don't.
I have always been an animal lover since I was little.
I found out I was allergic to cats when I got my first cat at about 8 years old.
I had to give away my first pet to my uncle and I at least got to visit him and he had a grand old time living on a farm. But I was sad- I wanted pets in my life.
So knowing this my mother got me allergy shots. They are shots you can get that BUILD up your IMMUNITY to the allergens.
It turns out I had a lot, from cats and dogs to weeds, mold, trees, milk, eggs, grasses and more.. So I went for years first every week and then every 2 weeks and it got to once a month and each time they added more of what I was allergic to in the shot so eventually they didn't bother me too much..
I ended up getting my kitty. (I think she was special anyway- she didn't seem to have as much dander -which is what we are actually allergic to in animals)
And Slowly I added more animals to my zoo and soon helped build up my own immunity.. I still have flare ups no and then and have to take a few pills and inhalers for my asthma too. But it's worth it..
Also if you or your neighbors... were exposed to animals when they were young- they probably would not have allergies as they grow up- It is actually better for children to live around animals.

All three of my cats are indoor cats. I live in a climate where it is so cold in the winter and am afraid that they will get sick. I love having the cats in the house because they keep me company. They sleep on the bed and hide under the covers.

It depends on the person. Some people really are alrgic. To them the only sulition is to get rid of the animal and avoid them as much as possible. Most don't know how to keep their beloved pets. It's a real shame, but its a sad reality that many pets face unfourantally.
