Installing XP on an Asus EEE pc

When I bought my EEE about a year ago, I received the install disk for XP, however the EEE doesn't have a CD drive. I hadn't planned on installing XP because I wanted to try Linux, and XP would take up valuable system space. Not any more, as I have a 1.5 TB external. Now I want to install XP on my EEE, but I have no idea how. I've looked it up, but the tutorial's I've found say you need to be running XP on another computer to get the files onto a flash drive. I am running Vista on this computer, and my EEE doesn't meet the requirements for Vista. Can anyone help? Tutorials, methods, anything.

If you have an external cd drive, then you can use the cd you have to install Xp. If not you can buy one to do the job. What information your disc doesn't provide can be downloaded directly from the internet. The install cd will have a componant that will search for you. All you have to do is get an extrenal drive to use your existing cd. If you're running vista on any machine, then you can't use an XP cd because the Vista machine will think you're trying to downgrade. Just get your hands on an extrnal portable cd/dvd drive that plugs into a usb port. Find one that's compatible with your current EEE machine and you should be fine.

Thanks for the response, but I'd prefer not to buy a CD drive. I know the sort you're talking about, but I'd rather not spend any extra money.

its best to buy an external optical drive connect it to your ee pc though the usb port install xp you can also take out the hard drive of your eee pc, install it in another computer and install xp on the hdd through that computer hope it helps
