It is very sad that have to work on Christmas while everyone enjoying their Christmas. This year, a lonely Christmas for me. My girl friend have to work on Christmas. We had planned to celebrate in the Christmas eve. But it ends up with a lonely Christmas. I had to sit down in front of my PC to surf net and mylotting. Is that very sad if everyone is celebrating the joyful and meaningful day while you need to work? However, it is impossible everyone holiday. But, I hope that it won't be a working day for Christmas. Unfair! Anyway, wish everyone Merry X'mas and Happy new year.

I used to love working on Christmas Day, I used to work in a call centre type job and everyone was always in a festive mood and happy but it is sad if people have to work when they don't really want to...

I really don't want to, but I still have to show up at work because that is what they want you to do. In such economic climate, we got no choice, but to work. Oh well, happy Christmas everyone here.

Hi ck3259, it's a pity, your girlfriend's got to work on christmas day. In my own opinion, everyone should get a break from work, at least on christmas day, so that they can enjoy the festive seasons with thei near and dear ones. As for you, why don't you ring up some of your close friends and have a bash at your place or plan an outing with them. That way, you will be able to cope with the absence of your girlfriend and moreover enjoy the time with friends. Thank you and a Merry Christmas to you too.

It's sad that you and your girlfriend both have to work on Christmas, however it happens more times than not now a days. More and more places are choosing to stay open on Christmas instead of closing. I can understand hospitals and some 24 hour Pharmacy's staying open but that's about it, I can't see Walgreen's staying open if their not a 24 hour Pharmacy or a ton of convenience stores, I can see a few so people if they need gas or something for their car. I've been lucky to never have to work on Thanksgiving or Christmas' any place that I've ever worked in the past was closed and they also closed early on Christmas Eve which was nice so we could spend time with our families. I've never had to work in retail but I feel bad for people that work retail and have to work the day after Thanksgiving and than the day after Christmas places open really early too, it's horrible but it's just the way the world is now. I hope you can manage to have a nice day though, at least a good day at work though.

You are right. Actually nurses and doctor have to work on shift during Christmas and New year. They have to sacrifice the celebration but to look after the patient. We have responsible on our job. Sometimes it is very unhappy that have to work on festive season, but we have to work also. Imagine if hospital and clinic close during festive season, there will be many people suffer from sick and can't cure. I would be think positive on my Christmas. Have a nice day.

I sometimes have to do things I don't want to do despite the holiday, but the one thing I've never done is have to work. Will I do some "work" well sure I will, but it'll be by choice. And George will be home seeing as Pizza hut is closed. And, when I say work I mean spending some time here to see what little more I cn gather before the end of the month to make my payout a good start. I figure about fifteen if I do things right this week, but we'll see.

Maybe you should concentrate on being thankful that she has a job. So many people are out of work and can't find jobs that those who have them need to appreciate the fact!

How sad. Christmas is a public holiday in many countries and it is a time to celebrate with full of joy. Working during public holidays will earn you extras so it won't be too sad for you or your girlfriend.

I have to work on Christmas. I really don't mind it. I celebrated last night with family and friends and this morning I got up and watched the kids open their gifts. Then we all had breakfast together. I don't go into work until 2pm so it's not a bad thing for me. I am sorry that your girlfriend has to work and that you are spending the day alone. I hope that when she gets out of work that you will be able to make up for lost time and still have some quality time together. Merry Christmas, CK.

It can be a sad time to have to work on the holidays. At my other job, I was glad that we were closed for Christmas because that was the only holiday I actually got to spend with my family. With the job that I'm in now, the only time we get holiday pay is if we're open on Thanksgiving or Christmas. That only happens if there are volunteers. A part of me wanted to work on Christmas this year, even if it would have only been for a few hours.

Don't be sad...It is a part of life to work when it is required. My advice for u is to not to neglect these type of work. It gives your image a better outlook of responsible person. Try to enjoy evenings or some alternate. Merry Christmas...
