Mahabharata is one the prime epic read by almost every Indian, after the Ramayana. I have read this epic many times, and I've been really inspired by the characters, and the stories and also the various events that take place, and each event has such profound meaning hidden behind it, it correlates to our own experiences with learning in our daily lives and also with our ways of living. It correlates with what we believe in, what we do, and how we react and also how we live our principles.
For those who haven't read this epic... It's a story between 5 five brothers (Pandavas, sons of King Pandu) and the 100 cousins (sons of King Dhritarashtra)... An enmity caused by their uncle to bring about wrath and ruin for the greed of power, and finally, millions of people die in this bloodied war, all because the five brothers were denied their rights. This war happened in the battlefield of Kurukshetra which is a town today in Haryana and it's really beautiful over there.
I visited this place more than 5 years back and I found it very interesting. If you visit one particular temple you can see marks of swords on the Shiva Ling, which are marks of the annexation of the Muslim Rulers.
But there is one very important temple of Chandi Ma, where the Pandavas and Lord Krishna offered to sacrifice a horse if they get victory. I visited this temple, and there was a very strong energy over there. Anyhow, I feel a strange energy all over this place and it's as if time hasn't moved forward over here, and the same culture still exists, something like as if, time has stood still in this place.
The energy was like visiting back in time, and totally getting transfixed over there. I entered the temple, and I don't know what happened to me suddenly. Some energy took over me, and I was just standing and staring at everybody around me. I wasn't myself anymore. I see men moving forward and prostrating to the Goddess, but each person I see, suddenly I feel they are all characters from the Mahabharata. I felt as if I was standing back in time, in that period and watching the Pandavas.. I felt as if, I am watching the reincarnations of one of the 5 brothers. I don't know why. Especially, my eyes got stuck on one man, and I felt he was Nakul or something and my hairs were standing on their ends. Has it ever happened to anyone of you?
Have you ever visited a historical place and suddenly, you get lost in your mind, and you feel as if you have moved back in time and witnessing history right over there? You present in your body right now right here, but your mind and consciousness travels back in time, and suddenly your whole being starts to convince you that you are seeing those historical characters right now.

What you have written about is the physical Mahabharat, ie the story of the war between the Pandavas and their cousins the Kauravas. The true Mahabharat is within ourselves and is going on everyday, every moment of our lives. If you read the Bhagwat Gita interpretation written by Yogiraj Bhupendranath Sanyal (in Hindi) then you will get the correct meaning of the Mahabharat and what the characters in it stand for. I have not been to any religious or pilgrimage spot but your experience is not surprising. Every place where worship has been carried out for decades or where some saint or Yogi has meditated for decades or centuries carries its own vibration. This vibration affects those who visit that place, not everyone but only certain people who are in tune with that spot.If one has faith then anything can happen, the sick can be healed the crippled will walk, the blind will start seeing again.Miracles take place on their own due to the intense faith and devotion of the devotee and this is only due to the energy vibration of such places.

I totally agree with you that I have picked up the vibration of that place. And, sometimes, it also can be that you have been to that place in another life also, and your memory just revives all of a sudden, depending how strongly you are attuned to it.
I had that experience even in Nepal and a couple of other places like Thanjavur. I have read the Gita by Paramahansa Yogananda, and surely do understand the significance of the pandavas and kaurvas. :-)
But, my idea of the question was, related to time travel. And many people experience such phenomena.

I love Mahabharata. In my opinion there could be no better story one can read. Of course it really happened and there are historical evidences of the war. I think no story can be so powerful. It has so many characters and all are unique and it is easy to remember them all. Every incident is interesting yet they carry powerful messages. You have all the lessons of life in it.
I wish every one immaterial of religion should read this Mahabharata at least once in their life.
I am surprised about that your going back to that ages and seeing Nahula. It is a bit too difficult to believe but I bet you are telling the truth.
so it could be some kind of vibrations and feelings you had experienced there.
I can read Mahabharata any number of times and watch it and Ramayan on tv any number of times. Nice discussion cobra and thanks for it.

I didn't see Nakul as Nakul, but I am just seeing the people in the temple, but I am back in time, and as if I am really there, and these people are the same people of that time, who have reincarnated sort of you know?
It is difficult to believe for sure. But yes, I had a profound experience.
