Has anybody tried writing for greeting cards

I know that when people think about making money online, they think about article marketing, PTC and so forth. But has anybody thought about writing for greeting cards? There are card companies that accept submissions, and i've seen at least one that will pay 300 dollars if they accept it. I believe there are some that pay less- maybe 75 dollars or what. But hey even 50 dollars a pop isn't bad for having to sit down and compose a little happy birthday message! I've seen at least some that will take submissions online, so in a way this can be a work from home job. Sit on your computer and send submissions to card companies. Even if only a few accept your submissions, you will end up with a lot more in your wallet a lot quicker than clicking on ads or hoping someone clicks on your google ad. Has anybody tried this? What was your experience?

Great thought, if you know of such a card company that pays like that let me know I would look into it. Intresting concept, but not sure about it being quite that easy to publish your work through a card company. I will be watching this post.

Yeah, i wasn't sure it was that easy either. That's why i posted this message. I am hoping someone will come along, tell us about which card company he or she submits to, what kind of writing they like, give us some tips or whatever. I did find a card company that pays 300 dollars if they accept your submission. I forgot who they were, but i wrote it down somewhere and i'm pretty sure i can find it again. I'm sure they're very selective about what they accept since they're paying that much. Like i said, some pay a lot less- i think i may have seen one that pays about 75 dollars or so. My point is the way they pay, whether it's more or less, is like "Wow, that much just for a little poem or message to fit on a card??" If we can figure out the ropes- which card companies to submit to, how to write to increase our chances of acceptance...

I never heard about such writing greeting cards online job. I think it would be a nice online job if we can get paid just by writing greeting cards. But of course such job is not an easy job. And greeting cards only sent on certain occasions, so i think such job is depend on momentum. But if you don't mind please tell us one or some site which offering such job. I think many people will try their best to do it. Have a nice day and happy mylotting for you. Merry Christmas.

It's not a matter of them 'offering online jobs.' It's a matter of them accepting submissions online. If you write a catchy message that can fit on a greeting card- one appropriate for birthday, holiday, or whatever, and submit it online to a card company and they like it, some will pay you nicely. If you find one that likes what you wrote, you can submit another message and hopefuly they'll like it again, and get to know you. Then maybe they'll kind of consider you as part of their staff and look forward to your next submission. You can submit to a number of different card companies online-especially those that post their submission guidelines.

I haven't actually done that.. But I create my own greeting cards on Zazzle. So if I come up with some good stuff I try to put it in my own cards.

With great research skills you may want to check out Odesk. Odesk is a site that you can join they claim to be legit that brings together people that need jobs done with people that want to work. They have tons of jobs posted daily many that require research. I've signed up looked at them but never really sought a job. My trouble is with working full-time and full-time school I'm never sure that I have that much time to devote to a project like many of the jobs ask. Odesk is defitely worth a look! aireanna18's home page: http://www.xomba.com/user/aireanna

I have watched an episode of Jessica Sojo show on TV that features writing for greeting card. The job title is message writer. The interviewee is earning a living by writing message in greeting cards. He says that his job doesnt pay much but his enjoying doing it. Keep us updated when you found companies online that accept message writing and pays. goodluck!

Here is my biggest question with them paying that much money. Are they just looking for the words or do they expect you to design the cards? I mean if they are payng this much per submission that begins to sound more like the going rate for creating an entire card with photos, graphics, and etc. I think some on the sites you mentioned are into the whole online greeting card business, which further makes me wonder if they are looking for you to design and write the card. Keep us up-to-date about how it goes. I sounds interesting and possibly very lucrative if you are a creative writer. Myself, I always feel stumped when it comes to writing a message on a hand-created card so I'm not sure that it is a job that I would consider although the pay sounds great. aireanna18's home page: http://www.xomba.com/user/aireanna
