Hi Everyone...if you celebrated Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa...I hope it was a wonderful and blessed time for you.
What you your favorite thing about the holiday this year? Did you do, see, or receive anything that stood out from everything else?
Please do share it :)

Hello Shibham.
Hanukkah is the Jewish celebration that occurs around the same time that Christmas does, and Kwanzaa is the African American celebration patterned after a similar celebration held in Africa proper. Kwanzaa is also celebrated around the same time as Christmas in America.

Hello my friend PeacefulWmn9 Ji,
Thereis nothing to be renmembered as special events during holidays, as we are on permanent holidays after retirement and have our own way of living/eating/enjoying.There is no one to ask any questions. Whateverwe do, we do for ourslves. Our main motto is to keep travellingamong all children and do what they may need as an extra help.
May God bless You and have a great time.

Hello friend
You make a good point! This is how life in our old age should be lived, as we've worked so hard the rest of it. Of course, there are always things to be done, but yes, we should be able to relax and choose our own timing :)) And how nice that you help your children. I am sure it is of great value to them!
Enjoy your all the days holidays with God's blessing :)

That sounds wonderful. So often, the holidays are the time family resentments come out and so does the arguing. Just doesn't seem right.
I'm glad your holiday was peaceful.

Frankly, Jo, my guess is that you say what many of us feel. Whenever something bad is associated with a holiday, that memory or pain is rekindled each and every year. I have some of those same feelings each year. It's sad what some people do to others that taint something beautiful, so for me, Christmas is a love/hate kind of thing any more.
Hugs and love to you,
Karen

Hi Karen,
The most wonderful thing around this time of the year is that its turning cold here. And I just love this cold. Its good to sleep for some extra minutes when you snuggle inside at this cold here. Its not that cold but pleasant here.
The gift I received was a Bible from a Filipino friend of mine during my stay there. And I am enjoying reading it.
What gift did you receive my dear friend?

Hi Bodhisatya. How lovely to have received the Bible. I enjoy reading mine, and like you, I also enjoy the colder weather. It is snowing out again tonight and looks so peaceful and pretty.
I got a digital camera and some lotions...things I surely appreciate :))

My very favorite thing about the holiday this year is the fact that we were able to celebrate in our own home for the very first time. In the past we've always been slaves to other people's traditions, but this year for the very first time we were able to make some traditions of our own. The other thing that I really liked about the holiday this year was the pleasure that my children had with the gifts that they received.

Christmas in your very own home...that is a beautiful thing :)
And kids, what would Christmas be without them? I always enjoyed their excitement and enthusiasm more than anything. I'm so glad you had a great holiday.

Hiya Karen, A very happy Christmas to you! My favourite thing about the holiday is opening up my presents I know that sounds kind of corny but it's true, because this is the only difference there is from a normal weekend, to me Christmas is just another weekend. I guess I should be grateful to be alive, be healthy and have another brand new year around the corner to look forward to make changes and achieve more. It's a time of relaxation and a time of viewing the year that has gone and the year that has yet to come. The main gift I received of course is the gift of a warm home, loving family and a roof over my head, that is something to be grateful for sure.

Hi Wolfie :)) Merry Christmas to you, too...a day late :)
I think we all still love receiving gifts. So often, they are things we might not purchase for ourselves...and they always come as a nice surprise. I have to agree with the things you're grateful for, and at the same time, I know this is sometimes hard for people being treated for depression...so I commend you for finding the blessings that you have.

hi karen My son just left and I feel so good just having had him here with me. He showed me a video called miracle on the hudson that made my day,it was just fantastic that these pilots were able to land this big passenger plane full of passengers on the Hudson when a flock of geese flew into the planes engines. He got that monster plane down without breaking it up, and almost all of the passengers survived, this was a fantastic video as it showed it actually happening. Of course as I do not see my son but only once a week almost anything we did together would have been okay but this was really special.well filmed and I was sitting here clenching my fists, hoping the passengers could be saved and almost holding my breath. Hope I do not sound too nutty but it was really a great video. Merry Christmas Karen and have a Wonderful New Year. hugs from Hatley.

Hello Miss Hatley, and Merry Christmas to you!
I am so happy that you enjoyed the time with your son! I also love those wonderful "feel-good" movies. I get emotionally involved with such movies too!
Clenched fists, edge of seat, and all of that :))
Now, what did you have good for your dinner there? I actually baked apple pies from scratch for the 1st time in years. I used to bake all the time when the kids were home, so that was a treat for the family lol.
Hugs and love to you,
Karen

I think any time off from work or the daily routines is a refreshing thing, and yes, when one has kids, no one sleeps in on Christmas morning lol. The earliest ours got up was 3:30 a.m. one year, lol, but then we always had trouble sleeping since we were so excited to see the kids' excitement :)
A soft purple sweater...that does sound wonderful :)

Hi Pat...and merry day-after Christmas.
It is a blessing when one's family is scattered all over to be able to keep in touch as easily as we do these days. Mine was a quiet Christmas, too, as only one daughter came home this year for the holiday, but it was a very fun and pleasant kind of quiet :))

Out of everything that was planned this holiday, I managed to get it all done and enjoyed every minute of it. However, I did have two welcomed surprisea: one was a call from relatives that i really wanted to talk to, but didn't have any contact info. and I had the opportunity to see some relatives that I love very much and hadn't seen in a very long time.

Hello Clarkbody.
I'm happy that your Christmas went so well. It is always wonderful to catch up with or get a surprise call or visit from a relative we haven't had contact with for a while. I hope the new year will be a happy as your Christmas was.

Christmas Eve was great. My husband and I spent it at his cousins house. He other cousin brought his four little boys ages 5 to 2 weeks old. It was so cute seeing the boys open his gift. The one outfit the baby received was a swearshirt with a picture of a dog on it and the seat of the pants said WOOF. It was so cute. It was cute to see the older boys act out in the birth of Jesus play. I know Christmas is about the kids and watching them have fun. I can't wait to have children of my own.

Hi there :)
I have to agree. Children DO make Christmas extra special. Their joy and enthusiasm is catching! I miss my own girls being young like that, but thankfully, I now have grandbabies...and that is almost as good in every way!
I'm glad your Christmas was such a good one.
