How useful is Internet

For me at least there are many advantages. As self-employed and enjoying writing / editing I can find work on line. It is great to send picturese, documents and whatever is needed to be sent. It helps to keep in contact with relatives. I can't think of too many disadvantages, at least not here, except the risk of getting a computer virus. The Internet is not killing the old postal system as it is newspapers. News is readily available over the Internet and many sites are free. But to answer the main question, for me the Internet is very useful.

sure internet is useful we can do a lot of thing there, and we can find everything we need. i spend on internet a lot of time, i use it for search everything, for chat with friends an other persons, to play wiht games and to earn money too. iternet can change our life if you are able to use it in the right way. Internet can be dangerous for children, ther are a lot of sites for adult persons easy to visit laso for children.

Hi neelima, Internet is helping us to reach the people very fast. The postal system is taking 2-3 days to reach the distance but email is reaching us within in minutes. So definitely it is an advantage. Secondly if we need some information, it is on our finger tips. We will get lots of information within minutes from the net. Earlier people were searched the same in library (in old news papers and books) for information. So definitely internet made our life easy. But I agree that the handwritten letters have its own touching and we are just missing this heart touch. Happy and Prosperous New Year 2010.

Hello neelimaravi me too think that there are both diff sides to an coin as well as everything, now present in this world.Internet also does have its advantages and dis-advantages.I find internet advantages in our info search, communication means, trnasfer of goods, business solutions, currency, as well as harmony among the peoples of world.But do have some dis-advantages such as, rising unemployment due to it, health pro, less skilled works, cyber crimes, etc stuff.Well me never got that much of post mail except with one of my cousin int eh past, so don't think it had really worsen someting other than employment issue.Anyways still thin happens for some good reason, Happy mylotting.

I can think of very many advantages to the internet, but very few disadvantages to it. Some of the advantages that I can think of is the fact that the internet has put all kinds of knowledge right in the palm of our hands. Also, it has made the convenience of paying bills a lot easier. I feel like I have a whole lot more control over when my bills are paid with the internet than I did when I had to rely on postal mail. The main disadvantage that I can think of regarding the internet is that there is so much false information on the internet mixed in with the correct information.

The advantage of internet would be the interconnectivity of people. We can use internet as means to talk to people over long distances and even share experiences with them through photos and videos. Internet also improved a lot of businesses out there because of voip(voice over IP). Business men can have international meetings through video calling lessening their expenses for travelling. Another advantage of internet is that we can get all the information we want because of it. We learn and discover different kinds of things just because of the internet. Saying that internet is all good is wrong. It is also giving a very big impact on human beings in a very negative way. For example, people are steadily deteriorating in their grammar and spelling skills because of so much typing people just tend to use shortcuts of long words. Another is piracy which kills a lot of industries present in our world. As the human being progresses, it is inevitable that some of the old culture are slowly ceasing to exist. That is the case with the post mail system. There will be a time that children will not know what a stamp is and how to send a letter. To finish the disadvantages of the internet, I will say that the internet just makes the lazy lazier.

I do many things with the aid of the Internet. I often look for software on the Internet as I find a great many more bargains than what's in the stores - and there is some software that is completely free! I also check out products I am wanting to buy on line and can even see which local stores have stock, and then if I want to reserve the product, I can and pick it up in the store that day. Then there's the information - there is more than I'll ever need on line. And lots of opportunities to meet people and earn a little money too. The only disadvantage I can think of is that it can become addictive, but I got that in hand and only stay on my computer for a set amount of hours each day... - Derek

I think the Internet is the greatest invention ever! It makes the world a lot smaller and has opened up a lot of new opportunities for a lot of people! There are not many things that can’t be done online! One can do their entire shopping online and there is no need to actually leave home! There is a dark side to the Net as we all know and care needs to be taken but the positives definitely outweigh the negatives. I cannot think of too many ways that my life has been disadvantaged because of the world wide web!

Hi Neelima There are lots of advantages and equally disadvantages of internet. We can come to know about varied topics and become proficient in any subject if the net is used properly and at the same time we can stoop to mean level through some other provisions in the net. Especially the teenagers and adolacent children are benefited through such sites and the crime rates are increasing day by day

Hi Neelima As far as I am concerned I feel there are lots of advantages and equally disadvantages of internet. We can learn lot of things regarding any topic under the sky, across the globe without anybody's help through the net and can become even a scholar if we use that provisions properly. In the same way we can stoop to the mean level through the net and for that also there are lots of provisions. Especially adolacent children, who are using more of such sites and day by day the crime rate is increasing. Regarding the killing of our old Post Mail system, I do not think internet is that threat to it.

I believe the internet is a valuable tool, and is better than the mail. It takes alot less time, people get important messages faster, questions can be looked up with out anyone feeling stupid or being ebarrased, I think it bennifits everyone in some way or another. The only thing about the internet I do disagree with is that it doesn't teach our young ones how to write a heart felt letter in their own handwriting....They wish to type everything, no matter what it is, and I think that does take away creativity and independance from our kids.

Internet is useful in each and every field,I can see it in education,business,share market and many more streams.I can also use it for sports,news update,for downloading songs,wallpapers,videos,mobile themes,softwares,etc.

The internet can't put the post mail system out of business unless it can transfer tangible items over through cyberspace. The internet does have a lot of information. There are some information and things not found on the internet.

i can say that internet is really killing the old post mail, except of course ebay. for shipping goods and package. though internet has helped each and everyone of us in a easier and faster communication. like for us. i have a brother who lives abroad and my wife's sister lives abroad too. it is easier and faster and cheaper to talk to them through internet. it is really a great help. about children having an addiction on the net, my son is still young to be doing stuffs on the net. so nothing to worry for now.

hi neelima, that is common in these days,due to internet,i have left some works like tv watching,reading books,meeting friends,iam not all concentrating on all above things,now i am concentrating only on net and its concerned sites,the revenue of the post office also reduced considerably and net also saving our valuble money,time while using it,but we will be netsick people,have a nice day

hi neelimaravi this is a very interesting discussion. I, having grown up with the internet, don't think I would be able to do anything properly without the internet. It is really, really useful. Still, using the internet all the time, you won't know about all the other opportunities there are out there that don't involve the internet. I barely mail letters, because by the time I was old enough to need to contact someone living elsewhere, email was already the way to go. I think the beneits of email is that you don't need to pay for the stamps, you don't have to go to a post office/ any other place you go to deposit you letters, and also the person receiving the letter will see it instantly and right at home (if they have a computer). Lost of people still use post mail, but it's just not that common. I also think people (especially the younger generation) are glued to the internet these days, and even though there are many good and useful sites available, there are also dangerous and inappropriate sites out there. It's important to know which sites to stay away from. Have a great day!

I like to go onto INternet to earn a little of extra money online. I can watch all kinds of t.v. shows online with all the different website. i can look up all kinds of information online. I can chat with people or write them emails and they can get it instantly. I guess the disadvantages are you have to be on the lookout for scammers and there is a possibility of getting a computer virus from something online you download or load up from a webpage.

hi neelimaravi, I am grateful for having this kind of technology, I can't imagine living without internet and computers at all. The advantages of having internet in our lives are endless. Internet makes are life more easy, with this advance technology the things that we knew are impossible can now happen. In terms of "email", I think it is very practical having it instead of, the old mailing system although the latter is important and more personalized still, electronic mail saves more paper and energy that might affect our environment in the future. It also saves us more time and money. The disadvantage maybe is us being dependent on it which is also can be addicting. The viruses that may attack pc's are also a big threat in internet and computer industry for it may knockdown some important files.
