How do you make your body relax after a tired day?

Lie down on bed, your face up, with a rolled towel underneath your back. The push upwards with your chest stretched and wide, would not only relax your back but also will make your shoulders and head move backwards. We can do a lot of other relaxing activity with a rolled towel. I have been doing this for a couple of days now. After a long day, this really helps. Just try it out and you will feel much loosened, stretched and relaxed.
So, do you do any exercise, yoga to relax and let go? what's your fitness mantra?

To relax I do the usual things like a warm bath etc but what I like to do to calm down if I am feeing uptight is listen to music preferably with my IPod so I can have it as loud as I can (within reason); if I am by myself I will sing out loud too. Silly as it sounds it really helps me unwind! If I am feeling down reading or writing especially by coming here, will make me feel heaps better. I guess you have to do what works and your method sounds terrific and it may just be one for me to try! Can't say I have a fitness mantra and that may be a problem...(LOL)

The best way for me to relax at the end of a very long day is to take a nice hot bath. It makes my muscles looser and it helps my joints to not feel stiff. I've used this relaxation method for many years of my life and it still works for me. I learned this method from my father who did the exact same thing that I do now when he was still alive. It worked out well for him and it also works out well for me. Additionally, if I am stressed in the middle of the day, I will do some athletic stretches to loosen myself up in the middle of the day.

Hi mimpi: It seems that you have chosen a right way to relax yourself but in my case i have chosen something really simnple to be completely in relaxed. When i feel so tired after a hard day of work i first eat, then go to my bed, turn on the stereo and put one of my favorite cds and lie down for a minutes. This helps me a lot. Thanks for sharing with us another way to relaxed that might be better than mine. XD. Lol. Hope you are having a nice day. Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays. Take Care.

There is an exercise of focussing my attention on all points of my body from head to toe and then back again. This followed by conciously letting the body loose and flab, especially on the stressed portions which has tremendously hepled. Ten minutes of meditation with slow breathing at the end and you are relaxed.
Another very effective way for me is to get into a nice long conversation. It takes my mind away from all that i've gone through and really helps me let go. The only thing is i don't then seem to want to stop...and just want to go on..

Hey,
I go to gym regularly. I started going to gym from the age of 17 and it has both advantages and disadvantages. But after a long tired day, doing some yoga or stretching exercises will have terrific benefits.
I do yoga 15 mins every morning. Yoga is something, which will help you to not only unstressed yourself but its all an anti aging process. The theory is very simple. Doing yoga is all about controlling our breathing, and our age is directly proportional to the number of breaths we take.
So I would recommend you to do yoga every morning, very simple but very effective exercises and u will be able to see the results within 15 days or so.
Stay healthy, Stay fit!
Cheers,
Tutul

I practice zazen which is a form of Zen meditation where I focus on my breathing. This produces a still mind and I can often feel my shoulders and back relaxing more and more. If anyone is interested, there is a link on my profile here in mylot to an article on Zen meditation. - Derek

Oh, I didnt know about this relaxing technique. I do sometimes put a pillow underneath my back when Im feeling a strain in that area. I dont stay in that position that long as well. Just enough so that my back will be stretched out a bit. It does ease the strain somehow.
I also dont have any kind of fitness mantra that you have mentioned about.LOL I just sleep upon coming home from a tiring day.

I am not a fanatic about any of the physical fitness stuff, but I think yoga is a wonderful way to escape the issues of the day and work on fitness. I also love to bounce and jump on my mini-trampoline. Some people have furniture in the living room--I have my computer and sewing gear and fitness stuff, lol.
I have a memory foam topper on my mattress to sink into. Lucky me!

That sounds very interesting. Thank you so much. My favorite way has been practising "Yoga Meditation". I practise that every evening after getting back home from the long stressful hours at work. This is very relaxing, mentally and physically. I feel very relaxed and refreshed after an hour of meditation. I am told it is very good for mental and physical health.

Hi, mimpi1911. Thanks for the suggestion. Just hearing about it makes me already feel relaxed! When I am very tired from a long day, I will just get in the tub and have a soothing warm/hot soak in the bathtub. After this, I will lay down in the bed to rest. This feels so comfortable when getting out of the tub. I also like going to my Chiropractic's office just so I can get on the massage table. I have even asked him if I could stay on it longer. He told me of course I could, if I did not have anywhere to go at the moment. I will start to take advantage of this opportunity. I love having my back massaged over and over again. It is very soothing. I am almost tempted to fall asleep while getting my entire back massaged.

Hi Mim.
I love to do stretching exercises while lying on my bed. If I wish to just lay on my back, relax, and meditate, I place a rolled towel beneath my neck and a pillow beneath my knees to relieve "pressure points." Deep breathing from the belly, and then the meditating, while thinking "healing of God."
This works well for me. Sometimes, I follow it with a hot shower.
