Though provoking discussion

I know that I have my reasons for wanting to make a little extra money online, but I was wondering what everyone else's motivations are. For example, after examining all the different reasons I wanted to make extra money online (pay off debt, spend more time with my kids), I realized that my ultimate goal would have to be to make enough to supplement my husband's income so that I do not have to work outside of the home anymore - I want to be a stay at home mom and put my career on hold for awhile.
So what are your motivations? Do you want to be a millionaire? Do you just want to make your car payment every month? Do you need to support your shoe buying habit?

If making money is the sole purpose of being here then you are on the wrong track. There is more than just making money which is a side attraction for me. I enjoy interacting here, upload pictures which I have captured, being a global forum it is such a joy to interact with the whole world!!!

Like I said above, the thought of making money was what attracted me to join myLot, but the interaction has proved to be quite enjoyable - so much that I enjoy checking what the new discussions are everyday!

I too, have the same reason as you. I want to be a stay at home mom, due to having 3 teenagers and a pre teen in the house. My husband is disabled which makes it hard on the entire family to make ends meet. I am really hoping this pays off in the end, and is not just a waist of time, as my husband thinks it is.

well, aside from the fact of earning little extra money, I'm sure we all enjoy sharing our thoughts on any topic that others posted here. Seeing that someone actually comment or share their views about a certain topic that you started is really a good motivation to continue w/ this thing. And sometimes you don't realized at all if you already enjoy this, that you actually earning a little, which is just a bonus. :)

Well, I did start this with the hope that I would make a little extra money. In my short time here though, I have found that I thoroughly enjoy these discussions and getting to know others' viewpoints on many, many different topics.

well for me I have been earning and running my own internet business for over 10 years (not mylot as its pennies here)
my motivation 10 years ago and even now is because I don't want to have to work 40/50 hours per week have to get at awful times get stuck in rush hour all for a tiny wage and make my boss rich when I could be sitting at home playing with my kids and working when I actually want to work, it also enables me to drive nice cars live in nice houses and actually not have to worry about things.
Not to mention making the money for me not my boss, I am nearly 35 and semi retired now so my next goal is to retire in 5 years well ok I prob won't as my internet business now just looks after itself.
That was and is my motivation from 10 years ago,
I used to work for someone and its nice to have a guaranteed monthly pay cheque but think to yourself and look at what your boss is driving you helped him get that lol, not my idea of work.

I do realize that I am making the corporate office rich, but what helps me sleep at night is that I work for a non-profit, and I do enjoy my J-O-B, it gives me a great deal of personal satisfaction. However, you are still right.

My son is in the military and is being deployed over sea. Its very expensive to ship care boxes and and things to him. We are struggling just to pay monthly expenses as it is. I want to earn some extra to at least cover shipping costs its so important to him and will keep his spirits up. I know if i can post enough here and do some writing on ehow i can help make my sons time over seas tolerable.

I think it is great that you are doing this for your son. I do not have any immediate family over seas at this time, but I do want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with those in our armed forces :)

I do want to be a millionaire and I do want to support my shoe buying habits (I do not own a car). However, the main reason I wanted to make (any) money online (was) is because I did not have a job. Once I stayed without a job, I had to come up with ANY KIND of way to support my family. Online option seemed to be rather promising choice.
On Maslow's hierarchy of needs, my motivation to make money online was and still is: food, shelter and such. I hope soon it becomes "extra online making process".
Wish you all the best ramos7881

It is interesting that you brought up Maslow's hierarchy of needs. To be honest, most everyone I know outside of my co-workers only have a vague idea of who Maslow was or what the hierarchy is. I can sympathize with your situation somewhat, and I really believe that it is the basic needs that drive people to try to make money online.

My motivation actually changes from time to time. At the beginning, I only wanted to have some fun while earning money. But time after time I learn something new here about another opportunities that can help me earn money. I currently have many spare time at work, so I think why not try to monetize my free time and getting more serious with it. I think it's nice to have your earnings being sent to your bank account.
