I have posted many times about Willy and Khuay catching mice. I have always assumed that they ate their catch since I never found a tell tale body part. Also, living in the country I never have a shortage of mice coming in the house.
Yesterday, I was ironing the quilt top for my BF's Christmas gift and watching Willy play with one of their many many ping pong balls. He managed to bat it under the pantry and was trying to get it back. So, I left the ironing board and got a yardstick and started to get down on my knees; which is no easy feat since the knee replacement surgery earlier this year. I started swinging the yardstick along the floor under the pantry and started fishing out ping pong balls (a good dozen of them!!!) then I felt something that didn't roll. I didn't have a flash light so I could only do the fishing thing with the yardstick. Wow! Out came a body. Then another and another. Now mind you I do clean house, but with college finals, class projects and my BF having kidney stones I haven't been able to do the kind of cleaning I usually do. I fished out 6 bodies from under the pantry. All of them were field mice. Well, sigh, at least that mystery is solved.
As a P.S., my BF and I discussed about exchanging Christmas gifts and we decided to wait until he had a chance to do some shopping (He hadn't done ANY Christmas shopping and planned to do it on the 23rd except he was in the ER instead). The exchange has been delayed further because of his kidney stones so I have taken the opportunity to make his quilt and make him some flannel boxers.

I guess that they figured that I store food in the pantry for future use... I am surprised too that the mice didn't smell! Then too, like I said, I hadn't been around the house too much between college classes, my PT, my seeing doctors, and Bill's kidney stones I come home, toss stuff to one side and crawl in bed. As soon as I get the quilt and boxers done for Bill I am going to do a major sort and cleaning.

Wow Loverbear, I would have ran a mile lol
My Cats used to bring them in and Birds and Frogs
The Frogs always managed to get away but then we would find them in our Shoes lol the Mice I tried to save but did not succeed, the Birds it was always to late
That was the only time I used to tell my Cats of is when they did things like that, I don't like mice, but I did not want them killed either
I had 4 Cats, 3 of them would bring in the Animals but my 4th one would never chase any Animal, she would bring in leaves, empty packets and anything she could carry lol the Street was clean because she brought everything in the House lol

That's very interesting, but I guess you know where the mice go. I highly doubt the cats put them there though. Chances said mouse was injered by the cat and had gone under there to die. Sorry you had to fetch the bodies like that. Though I'm suprised you weren't attracted to the pantry by the smell.
