When was the last time you went to a parade?

I missed the Christmas parade here in town this year but I usually go every year. It was so cold and rainy that I just did not want to go. Last year my daughter was a part of the parade and it was so cold that when I got home, I couldn't even feel my feet. I like parades but I settled on watching some of them on TV this year. When was the last time you saw a parade? Was it on TV or in person?

The last parade that I attended was a year or two ago when I was in Oklahoma during the Centennial Year celebrations and I attended the big parade through Oklahoma City. The highlight for me was a fly past of the USAF "stealth bomber" which overflew the city towards the end of the parade.

I bet that was amazing. They are really loud too. I bet that was a lot of fun. I also bet it was pretty warm there. Thanks for responding.

The stealth bomber is really quiet, in fact you could hardly hear it when it overflew the city. It makes sense I suppose, it'd not be very stealthy if it was noisy!

I was thinking of the jets...LOL..oopps..I guess it wouldn't be very stealthy if it were that loud.

Hiya JenInTN, Actually I like going to Parades but the Parades here are always tinged with Political garbage so I tend to stay at Home and watch the Parades on the Television. Parades here start going great till they get out their Posters and what have you and start their little games and spoils it for all the Kids and everybody.

I have never been to a politically charged parade. The ones here are pretty laid back and really are for the kids. Now local businesses participate by entering floats but as far as them turning into rallys or something, I haven't been to any. Take care and thanks for the response.

Hiya Jen, Well that´s why I never go to one here as they almost always turn into just that a Political Parade. It´s such a shame People cannot leave their own individual ideas at Home just for a few hours. I have strong opinions but I would never put them on Parade for anyone. My ideas are for me. There will be a Parade a sort of Carnival effect of the Three Kings here soon and maybe and hopefully there will be none of the usual junk out there. That Day is a Day for the Children and everyone of all ages. It marks the End of Christmas as it once was. Date of it Sixth of January.

I would love to go to one for the 4th. I have went to fireworks shows but not a parade. I know I would enjoy it a lot more if the weather was nice. I love the Christmas parade but it is so uncomfortable outside during that time. Thanks for the response and take care.

I really can't remember the last parade I went to and I find them on TV boring - so while I might've caught glimpses of parades passing them on the TV, I sure haven't watched one since I was a child - and that was a LONG time ago!

It is a little boring watching them on TV. I watch them on and off on Thanksgiving but I can't sit down and watch them all the way through. I bet it's warm enough down there where you could actually stand to be outside for a parade though.

Maybe, if you can stand longer than I can these days... sure can't do it in the summer, you'd die of heat prostration!

The last one that I seen was on televison and it was the famed Macy's Day Parade. I would love to see it in person, but I am not a huge fan of crowds so I doubt that I will ever go.

The crowds are the worst. And the weather...it always seems colder when they are having parades...lol..I just went to the Christmas parade in town and it was 10 degrees colder that night than it had been all year.

There was a parade here in town like there always is, but I didn't get to see it this year either because I wasn't at home. It goes right by our house, or close enough to it to here them. I've never seen the parade as I've been here for two years and we haven't gone, but maybe next year we will.

woops I meant *hear* and no we'd have to go up to the top of our road, but we could still be in our comfy pajamas if we wanted, lol, we'd look a bit goofy I'd suspect though!

I would be tickled pink to stand in the front window and watch the parade go by. My comfy pajamas and nice toasty toes. That would be awesome. Maybe you'll get to see it next year. I like them in person.

I think I have gotten alittle lazy as far as these parades the lest few years. With my anxiety and panic attacks in big crowds I don't go much. We used to go to the 4th of July parade every year but I think this last year may be my last. It is just too easy to watch it on the television now and the kids are all too big so I doubt I will go anymore. I remember being in some parades when I was young and how fun they were. Times and people have really changed.

It's been years since I saw a Christmas parade. And that was in a small town near us and we had a couple of our grandkids with us and just happened to have been there during the time. We didn't just go there for the parade. The last parade I went to was when our only granddaughter was a senior in High School. She was the Queen of Soccer and sat on a float with 2 other girls. We went to support her and take lots of pictures.

Hi Barb..Wow..Queen of soccer..that's great. She must be very good. I like soccer but none of my children have ever played it. Any time you have one on a float you have to be there with the camera..lol..Thanks for responding.

Last time, eemmmm, in fact I had been a part of a parade for only once in my life, yes only once and that time also I was fainted in between! sad isn't it? It was when I was in class 7 or 8 in my school. It was way back in 1993-94! That is 15 years ago!

They used to say that when you are standing under sun for more than 20 minutes, it would be difficult for you to stand! Possibly I fainted because I didn't eat anything in the morning!

We went to the Christmas parade here this year. It is so long...it takes a few hours before it's over. It started at 2:30 I think it was and we didn't leave until around 5:30. We enjoy going every year and my son loves it.

I think the last time I went to a parade was back in October, it was the founder's day for a small town next to where I live, it was warm then, I didn't have to worry about getting cold or anything. I missed our Christmas parade in our town a few weeks ago, but it was so cold I didn't want to stand out in it, I don't like being so cold I can't feel my feet either..lol. I don't even think I watched any on TV, I don't know why...

I would love to watch a parade with mild weather. I can't think of ever having gone to one that it wasn't cold. My feet were still cold and I had those thick wool socks on Thanks for responding.

We went to a parade this year - the town Christmas parade because my daughter was in it lol. I don't think I would have gone otherwise because it was cold and windy and after the parade she was not happy because she danced and walked about 2 miles. She is only five lol. I think perhaps next year we won't sign up for the parade.... the traffic was bad, some numbnut almost backed into my husband when he was waiting for me to drop her off with her dance teacher, and getting away from downtown after the parade was a hassle because of all the people.

Aww..that's tough on them to have to dance and walk that far in the cold weather. They are so cute though. I wouldn't have went last year if it hadn't been for my cutie being in it. Thanks for responding.
