Have you had any pleasant surprises lately? I went into work thinking today was goin to be the last day of my seasonal job. However, when I was talking to my manager, he asks me to stay on as a part-time employee! I work at Macy's, which tends to hire a lot of seasonal people, and for some reason, asked me, out of about 10 other people (who were perfectly efficient in their jobs!!) to stay on! I'm so surprised about this. They told me I was 'doing great' and I'm utterly in shock about the whole ordeal. Good things rarely seem to happen to me, no joke.
So I wanted to share my good news with everyone, as I now have a permanent second part-time job!! And I wanted to ask what shockingly great things have happened to you lately? Work-related or not? I'd love to hear your stories.

That's great for you! Nothing interesting has happened to me lately, in fact I seem to be going through a down period wherein lots of little things are going wrong.

Hi maezee! Congratulations to you! With this permanent part time job, hopefully you don't have to find that other job at off hours(10pm - 2am or something, from your previous discussion).
I too had a shocking great surprise from work! We had a salary reduction in April this year. And yesterday I received a letter from the president of the company saying that starting January 1, I will be getting my full salary back. I even started a dicussion about this.

Wow! Congrats! Thanks for having such a good memory. I probably would've preferred a 10pm-2am job only because I'm a night owl, but now I'm just going to take what's in front of me (even though it requires getting up at ungodly hours of the morning). Anyway. I feel bad now, I think I'm going to go respond to some of YOUR discussions!

I am glad to hear about the good news that you received concerning your job! Things have been a little rough for my family and I the past few weeks because I was laid off from my full-time job until January. That always makes the holiday season rougher. But things worked out great because I am getting to draw unemployment as well as getting paid for both Christmas day and New Years day. We are also getting to go to the beach with the youth group from our church this week. So, all in all, this whole thing is working out for my benefit.

Congratulations! Getting two permanent part-time job is really a blessing. As for me I am still waiting for that one perfect job that I'm looking forward to get. I am looking for a full-time permanent job. Hopefully, starting early next year things will start to pick up and eventually employers start to hire more people.
Anyway, one surprised that my wife and I had this Christmas season was that we won a LCD TV raffle draw on our Church Christmas Party which was actually the grand prize! I've never really won any raffle draw before so I was pretty surprised about it. Although my wife told me that during her early childhood she won like a handful of raffle draws before. I told her maybe we should bet on lottery as she might win! Hehehe.

I already have a job,
but..
I was shopping in Hollister when someone stopped me and asked me for a job.
Soo.. I was like "Sureee..? But I already have a job.."
and the person who asked me was like "That's okay!"
Haha, Hollister is desperate for jobs/models?

Hi maezee,
Congratulations on getting a job offer. I suppose you really did very well in your seasonal job, hence you got the offer.
Well, recently there isn't any shockingly news happened to me. The greatest thing that happened to me recently was the birth of my first baby, but that's not a surprise, I planed for it.

Congratulations, Maezee!
What a great way to start the new year.
I guess we never really know which direction the blessings are going to come from, but when they do, oh boy! Is it party time or what!
Obviously you have made a good impresison on the management there at Macy's if they want you to stick on after this season.
I think it says a lot for you and your professionalism if the company asks you to stay; usually we have to convince the management why they should hire us/keep us on. So, to find it happening the other way around is a great plus point.
If I were you, I'd remember to mention this in my CV, and in any other job interview that comes up in the future.
Good luck to you.

Wow, that's awesome, congrats! Right now not a whole lot of good has come my way, I couldn't find any type of job near the Holidays. I've been out of work for well over a year now and it's aggravating. Currently, I'm trying to get my graphics site off the ground more, that's about one of the only good things that's happened to me so far lately, even that I haven't made enough money to live off of, not even close too it. I need some good luck that's for sure, with the economy it just isn't happening for me right now.

That is great news! I have seriously thought about taking on another job (if I could find one) but probably would not as that would cut seriously into time that I spend with my husband. With him working, and me working as well, I don't think me taking on another would be beneficial for spending time together. I guess I'll stick to mylot, which I can do in my spare time and earn a bit extra with.
Lately the thing that has happened to me lately is that I got a job. A few weeks ago they finally called me and now I am working Monday Thru Friday. I can mylot on the side, and earn a little extra, but with me also working my husband and I can start to save more for a car and a house in the future.

Congrats to you! I hope to have similar luck with my temp job. One surprise I had was my husband getting me a new 19" inch LCD tv for the bedroom and a new video game for my ps3. He knows with money being tight I was trying to stick to just buying essentials especially on christmas gifts.
We passed the old tv to my sis who is happy using it now along with a ps2 and some arcade games I was not playing. My little brother likes to hog the system all day so she loved that we gave her something she could use and still keep the peace between them lol.
Another surprise was getting a gift card from the client I am currently assigned to. I had gotten a gift last year from a client but didn't think I would get one this year too.
