Hi mylotters,
I have heard guys saying that gals do get more preferences. And the same from gals side also. That guys do get more advantages.
Many of us have a feel that we would be very lucky if we were born as the opposite gender than what we are now.
Never had I felt so. Do you people have that feeling? If so, whats the problem that you have currently because of gender?
I feel proud to be a woman.

I am proud to be what I am. However, that has little to do with my being a women. I think gender is just one of the attributes of our personalities. It is also an attribute which we do not choose. Our thoughts ,our beleifs should be more important to us.

Ya you are right. We don't have an option to choose it. What if you were given an option? Would you still choose to be a women?

Same goes down here.I am also proud that I am a girl and want to be a girl again in my next life(if that's possible)! Yeah,I admit that there are some people who take undue advantages of their gender but you can't generalize it,it depends on an individual's mentality. There are advantages and disadvantages to both the gender but I am happy as the way I am!

Ya of course. I have not generalized it. I have seen some saying so. Not everyone does that. You have given me an idea in starting the next discussion.
Thanks.
Happy mylotting.

First there is nothing to be worried about a persons gender...both men and women have certain advantages and also disadvantages..as iam concerned i'm happy to be a male and proud of it......at the same time i respect women and feel they must be given equal responsibility...

Hi balki prithvi: I agree with you, every gender has its own advantage and disadvantages. I am happy of being a man and i say, thanks God Women exists, without you, life would not be so happy, we need each other even if sometimes we don't get to understand how the other gender acts. The best way we should treat each other is with love, i think. Thanks for your answer balki prithvi. Hope you are having a nice day. Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays. Take Care.

vidhyavini!I think girls and boys who don't have freedom or who cannot enjoy their rights only will complain something about anything and seek excuses. As for me,i have no problem at all with my gender and i enjoy all the freedom with responsibility. So,I can say myself to be a proud man.

Ya you are right. When some rights are missing only we will feel bad about our gender. And obviously gals will miss some freedom but still most of the gals are proud of being a woman.

Yes, it gets very hot out here in summers, and the guys can sleep on terrace, while we have to sleep inside the house whether AC works or not. Similarly, guys can wear full sleeve shirts to offices in winters, and sweater seems too hot, while not having anything on hands feels too cold. :( And then they seem to have more strength to lift everything, and are more agile. They look better in jeans, and simple clothes, and they dont have to comb their hair, and they dont get lice, and they dont have usual feminine problems. Simply too many things. :( Not to mention that after all these advantages, they still get dowries. :)

Wow Wow!! Thats a long list. But most of it can be changed by you. I think you must be from India. Most of the problems that you have mentioned are from India only. Lol.
If you spend some time thinking about the advantages of being a gal, you will get so many. Try to think that. Lol.
Happy to have your response. Happy mmylotting.

Wow, that's a long list. I am curious as where you are from. I brought up the differences in our various cultures, in relation to this topic, in my response and you are pointing out a lot examples of that difference in just where you live.

The only problem I've ever had with my gender was the fact I used to get my monthly. When I get it I'll often gripe about being a girl just so that others know that's what is going on. Saves me the trouble of publically anouncing it. I'm miserable enough when I get it, I don't care to announce it to the world.
Other then I'm proud of being a girl.

hi vidhyavini hi again me too I am really proud to be a female senior citizen as I have always liked being a girl. I do not envy men at all but do wish that some of them did not feel that they were the lord and masters of all us f emales. that does turn me off of men completely. i was lucky in that my husband was not so much like that and in fact when I had two babies eleven months apart he was so good at helping me, I never asked he just helped and it was so lovely as we were both close to our kids that way, but sadly as my son grew up my hubby and him just did not get along at all. I would not ever have wanted to be a guy for one thing I a m far too emotional and guys dont like other guys to be emotional at all.nop;e I am happy being who i am.

Ya you are right. There are still dominations from male in certain places. I do wonder why they want to do that?
Might be their nature. Lol.
Even I feel not to be a guy for the same reason. I don't want to dominate anyone.
Happy to have your response. Happy mylotting.

Well here on mylot, I guess I don't really pay attention to who gets more than what, etc. But, I absolutely believe that it is still (thought not as much and we woman are getting there) a "man's world". Still not equal pay. Woman are still looked down upon and berated to going after positions, as well as doing well in positions, that are considered to be "man's work". BUT I am a woman and darned proud of it! I grew up on a farm. The two oldest children were my sister and me. We were taught to do all the farm work and did the same work as any brother would have been expected (and my younger brothers, when they got older were expected) to do. There is a great quote by Katharine Hepburn that I love. She said (in her elder years), "I never realized until lately, that women were supposed to be inferior".:-)

hi there, i am a girl, and i had felt bad about my gender when i was in high school, i could not do some exercise in PE class, and our teachers always prefered to apart girls from boys, this made me feel bad. and one more reason is the several days in every month, lol. what's more, men do not need to give birth to a baby, but that's what women have to do.

Yes, I get your idea. For a long time I was proud of I'm a man, and be a man has more chance to be aggressive, and be brave to face all kinds of troubles.
But some times when I think it deeply, I felt regret to be a man, because be a women has a lot of advantages in our society. Firstly in China if a man haven't an apartment or house you will lose chances to get married; secondly be a man would burden a lot of family and society responsibilities, example you have to do more housework than wife because girls are spoiled now; finally there are a little chance for a man to say out his pain or sadness etc, you have bury these under your heart but girls have right to express everything they don't like.
God chooses you be a man, you haven't right to be a girl, so I feel pleased to be a man or a woman when I was born, it's the fate I can't change, so I accept it and do it well.

I do get a lot of those feelings. Sometimes I feel like it would be cool to be a woman because of their fashion. I like looking nice. Women/girls have so many varieties whereas guys don't as much. Every time I watch a show or a movie that is relating to fashion I think about this. I like looking nice. I always think that if I was bon a girl, how would it feel to look pretty all the time. That goes the same with dying your hair and high heels. (Wow that was like one of my deepest secrets, but Ill do it for MyLot) hahaha Lets just say I am more feminine than masculine. I may have some masculinity in me but just more femininity.
It actually depends on your preference. There are pros and cons for both side. You cant really say one gender has the advantages. Both have their own advantage and disadvantage. Like for women, the pro, for me, is what I said above about fashion. The disadvantage is that they have to undergo the pain of giving birth whereas men don't. Im sure there are more for both sides but those are ones I had in mind right now.

The question of who has more advantages in life, man or women, is really alot more complex than most people would care to think about or admit. It really depends on any given situation or sub topic. For example when comparing physical attributes the best of the best will almost always favor men. This is not say women can not beat men in a variety of physical tasks, just that atheletically the strongest, and fastest human will always be male. Otherwise, the playing field, sort of speak, is far more even than in any other in our history. However in many parts of the world women are still considered subservient to men. I'm not putting a judgement on this but, in many cultures its still fact. On a small scale I would say it just depends on the enviroment in question. For example, In my career in the call center industry women far out number men, and the number of women in positions of authority also far out number men. Other careers favor men in a dramatic way. There are countless other examples that we could go into, but the point is both sexes have their own unique advantages and disadvantages. And, If you think about, I for one wouldn't really want it any other way. Life would really be boring if we were all the same.

You are right. Both of it has their own advantages and disadvantages. I am actually from India. In India I feel that women don't have much freedom. That could be one of the reason why some gals feel that they could have been born as a guy. Lol.
And when it comes to safety also, women will be the most affected I guess. Anyway, I am still happy as a women.
Happy to have your response. Happy mylotting.

It's good that you feel good about being woman. Since young, I had always wished to be a boy. Not that I didn't like being a woman, it's just that man seemed to have all the freedom to do as they liked, and can have others beside their wife and yet not looked bad in others eyes ( in fact, people think they are capable ) except their wife gets hurt. They have family but are not tied down like the woman, the only flaw may be that they support the whole family ( which is why if they can have others, it means they earn more than enough---capable ). And man can flirt, and flirting shows charm and there is no pain of birth giving. LOL my thoughts when I was a child. Now, I didn't mind being a woman as much as I did in the past. Not because I have freedom, that part still remained. It's just that seeing how hard my husband slog for us.... he is the pillar in the family and I don't think I am strong enough to take all that he took( mentally and physically ). Well, being woman seemed like we are being taken care of, like a child ( if we can also take being bossed around )LOL

Hi vidyavini: i am a guy and sometimes i must admit that i have felt this specially when there's a preference just for girls. We think that life for girls is easier because your knoe, being a gentleman means "girls first", b. in our culture guys should tell her girl that he loves her and not the opposite, that's unfair, specially for a shy boy and c. boys usually are more competitive than girls and that's too much stress for you. But I know this is just a perception and girls lives has their own problems related to the gender so there is no better position. Thanks for asking this question vidhyavini. Hope you are having a nice day. Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays. Take Care.

YA it's true that many people think that the other gender is getting many preferences................ bt the truth is that both gender gets equal preferences if we consider all the fields.................... so if you get a chance and change ur gender................. the next moment only you will think the advantages you had being the other gender previously................. so be happy with what u have and try to respect it
