It's a part of the whole "dainty" persona. Fortunately my daughter actually likes lizards & sometimes catches them. Bugs on the other hand...bug her.

Well I am a woman and I don't like roaches but I don't run from them. I run from bees though. Roaches are disgusting they carry so many germs it is gross. And as for lizards I am not scared of them I would't run from them because I used to have one. But as for other women running from roaches I van totally understand it. Thay are very gross and they can make you sick.

Your like me. Roaches as disgusting. I only get one or two a year that manage tyo get into my house. The cats kill them for me. Bees are scary, but I have learned not to run from them. I slowly move away and they go away. I've been stung a few times and it hurts. The first time I got stung I was trying to pet the fuzzy little bee. Big mistake. I have also stepped on them while walking barefoot. Lizards are cute. I always try to protect them. If I could I would have a feeding station for them, but I don't want to encourage them to come around because the cats might kill them. I am afraid of scorpions. They are dangerous. I have had a few inside and I go crazy trying to kill it from far away.

What? I think girls are only that way because they are exepcted to look that way. I never gave a damn about such stereotypes. I am not afraid of those things, nor am I afraid of snakes, snails, worms, or anything else like that. I think this is a gender generalization, and people need to start thinking for themselves, not be afraid of what they think they should be afraid of.

i like lizards.especially house geckos. because when i had them,i didn't have roaches. there's no point of killing roaches though..by the time you see one,you usually already need an exterminator.

my area had varying sizes of roaches from very small to very big-but my apartment had none because of the geckos. i have no idea how they could eat them either..yuck..

I don't have screaming fits at lizards, spiders or cockroaches. I blew my grand daughter's minds when I would pick up lizards from the yard and move them to a safe place. I also will move spiders outside. I usually will carry them out with my bare hands except for tarantulas, black widows and the red spiders that bite. My son in law screams like a girl when he is faced with any of the above, especially spiders. I hate cockroaches, they bite and I have gotten some horrible infections from cockroach bites. I go a bit nuts and start spraying everything in the house if I see one, but otherwise I don't lose it and scream if I see one. Besides the point there is no point in creating a scene as it would only entertain my cats and dogs.

I am not sure killing is really necessary Aamir. :) That sounds rather cruel considering that the lizards do eat away cockroaches, and a whole lot of other pests. They are not harmful like the cockroaches, spiders, termites, mosquitoes, flies, and so many other things. Just because they look scary doesn't mean it is justified that they should be killed! I am also scared of lizards, and cockroaches. Well, I use target for cockroaches. There are lizard repellants as well that are now available in the market. Something called lakshman rekha truly keeps cockroaches out of kitchens. A simpler procedure would be filling up all the unclean vessels with water during the night or any period they are left in the sink, and trying to keep everything covered. That is for cockroaches. Lizards tend to come in through various openings, including windows. May be mosquito nets with frames (Netlons) will help. Don't forget the exhaust areas, and bathroom ventilators. :) As to girls getting scared, I can really understand because anything moving is scary - including frog. We just need to get accustomed to them. May be you could have lizards as pet, if you are not really scared of them. :)

I am not aware lizards carry any infections! May be you can tell me about that! And there are many other toxic substances than those that you use at home! Toilet cleaner for instance. :) Do you stop using them? :)
• India
30 Dec 09
hey i dont agree that these creatures should not be killed as they r full of infections and desease u cant protect ur house by these repellents..as they r toxic and not enviorment freindly so the best organic way is to keep ur haome clean and make a killing drive atleast once a weak...to control there breeding

I am one of those girls who is scared of not only cockroaches, but all kinds of bugs, spiders, rodents, reptiles, etc. With the exception of bugs, I think that I am more scared of the others because they seem to come out of nowhere and surprise me, which causes me to scream, gasp and become afraid. I am rational, so I know that few of these things can harm me, but nonetheless, I am still scared of them.

Lizards are kind of cute, but roaches are so gross.I had one crawl up my leg once,I sort of freaked out. I guess the screaming and making a scene thing is to scare the lizard or roach away or get someone else to do it just to stop the screaming. If you personally kill it,it would still be there because you have to go near the body to get rid of the evidence. If someone kills it for you,you can get them to get rid of the body for you.

LOL, i suppose some girls are scared of them because they can crawl on you but there are many girls who aren't. I think lizards are pretty and i even have lizard decorations on my bookshelf. As for roaches... they're not scary though i wouldn't like them living and breeding in my home. Insects are lovely creatures and when i was small, i always played with lady bugs. I also like bees, butterflies, moths, dragon flies and of course, spiders. :)

hi aamir well not all women are afraid of lizards and we all should be afraid of t he diseases cockroaches carry and kill any one that we see. Now then you are being a tad sexist in your comment so let me tell you about an incident with a lizard in the library where I used to work. we had a small green lizard that would come into the library regularly when the front doors opened to let in patrons. one of us staff would take the little lizard back outside when we had a few minutes but we were all really busy this one particular morning. there were the customary group of middle aged men reading the various newspapers of that day seated in a semi circle. I was busy shelving books close by when I heard this ungodly scream, aieeh, and I stopped what I was doing and ran over to where the men were all upset. There was mr. lizard happily seated on this middle aged mans fat tummy while the manwas screaming his head off. get it off of me, help get it off of me, Poison help. He just screamed like a girl so help me. to the accompaniment of the other men's laughter I calmly picked up Mr. Lizard, carried him outside to a grassy area and sat him down. He at once scampered up the wall and sat there looking at me. the man inside was busy rearranging his clothes and screaming, I will sue the library. so what say you about men being scared of a harmless little lizard?

Their reaction is learned from others, usually from their mother. I don't like roaches. I consider them filthy germ ridden critters, but if I scream anything, it would be, "Kill it. Kill it."

well i am a woman but i am not scared of either of these although i can't say i am very fond of cockroaches. i am also not scared of spiders, although the rest of my family, most of my friends, and an exboyfriend are. this means that i am usually on spider removal duty when somebody gets frightened by a spider. including several men (and these men are not in any other way wimps).

I believe that that is just a stereoptype. I myself, as a girl, love lizards a lot, and I would love to hold them. :P Not sure about cockroaches though. :( I really don't like them myself, but if you think about it, theyre just like beetles that roam around your house eating your things. Just don't tell me to kill them, because I hate killing insects.

yes ur a very soft hearted girl..i generally kill them..
