There are a lot of objects or things associated with Christmas. There are a lot of symbolisms as well. What 3 things come to mind that would mean "Christmas" for you?
This discussion might be a few days late but would appreciate all of your responses.
Thanks for sharing, Happy Christmas and Merry New Year everyone!

During my childhood days I am so excited every time Christmas time is approaching. My main interest are to receive gifts, lots of gifts, then decoration of the Christmas tree and hanging of the socks filled with small stuffs like toys and candies. At present Christmas for me is the time to give respect and thanks to the creator for the gifts of life, parents, and friends..secondly, attending and completing the 9 days dawn mass and third, is attending lots of parties and good food...Lastly to share the blessing receive to with the unfortunate people..
Mery Christmas and prosperous New Year then to you..

Hi bjcyrix
First of all I should tell you that Iam not a Christian and am a HIndu. But I am termed a christian at home because I was bred in a Christian institution through and through up to my post graduation and would talk with great respect about my teachers and the nuns who taught me.When I think of Christmas what comes to mind are
1]The regular CHristmas vacation and the anticipation associated with it during school and college and University days.
2.The CHristmas cake seen in bakeries.
3.The decorated star /crib seen in any house [the illuminated one ]
But there is another thing that comes clearly to mind. When I was a young child[up to my 4th standard] I was always chosen to be an angel in the school concert[I used to wear a white gown and have wings attached and would recite some verses[I forget the verses but I remember the role which was lovingly assigned by my teachers because I was a topper and would speak well]In my 4th grade this role of angel changed and I was asked to play the role of Mary[this was the scene in the stable with baby Jesus and Joseph by my side] --so these are what I remember.

In my school, I was just asked to stand [perhaps on a bench or something or whether it was just on the floor of the stage I do not remember] but I well remember the angel part and my mother was mighty pleased about it.
THanks a lot for the BR.I was as happy as recalling my childhood memories when I saw the BR.

Oh wow, you were an angel! I really wanted to be one in those celebrations when I was a kid. A cousin became one and I never was. I guess it was because of my weight. I was a real tub of chubby when I was a kid and back then, the angels in those celebrations were being pulled up by two men manually. Imagine if it was me at that time, I dont think 2 men can lift me up to the top.
Thank you for sharing your stories!^_^

A Christmas tree, Santa and wrapped gifts. Those are what most people think are symbols of Christmas, but that is corporate stuff. The baby Jesus and a manger and the wise men is what we associate Christmas to be. I grew up thinking that Santa and the tree was the reason but later I found out it wasn't the only reason.

Christmas, for me, means celebrating the birth of the Savior of the world and remembering him. Along with that, I associate family, giving and love. At Christmastime, we tend to be a little kinder, share a little easier and love a little better. My wish is that the spirit and joy of Christmas be felt throughtout the year in every human heart.
