In chinese tradition, the children heritage the surname from their father. If the girl grow up n married, she follow their husband's surname. Many think that it's very important to have a son. Although I dont agree of this but i want to know about others opinion, because I have two daughters and I feel OK with that.

I've heard they don't want girls over there and most of them are adopted by US families..I find it very strange and I always wondered why...I thought maybe it was to carry on the namesake. What will happen if China has more men than women one day?
I have a girl and a boy but if I'd had two girls it'd be just the same...they're my kids and I love them regardless-gender doesn't matter. :)

Well, firstly I'm half chinese and I'm a boy. But I'm a Thailand resident so it doesn't count that much. I've heard of these traditions for quite sometime cause I have many Chinese friends. I think the tradition has dulled quite alot from the past, but still they would like this tradition to keep on going as it is the only way to keep the family's surname if you get what I mean.
