Could you create something new in today's economy?

December 28, 2009 In this unsure economy is there anything you could create that would generate money for you or somebody else. Put on your thinking caps and take off the dunce cap.

No. I am a creative person and I can't think of one thing that hasn't already been done. The fact is you can't just create a job or whatever without some sort of need for it. So many machines are taking human jobs and more humans are born everyday. I try to be optimistic, but the simple fact is we are overflowing the earth with humans. You can invent things all day long, but if there is no practical and productive use for it then it is just another temporary pacifier. The most brilliant government pragmatist know these things, but because of faith and hope they drive and don't give up. To me that is admirable, but as a realist I can't find the strength. The only things that create jobs are wars. They pay millions of people to kill millions of people and temporarily reduce our population and then we are fine for a while and the cycle begins again, but the wars do not kill people off fast enough and we keep multiplying at a frightening rate. Sure we can think of ways to generate money temporarily, but what of our future? We need to create a way to be efficient and more productive with our resources. Make something that will exponentially and increasingly create more jobs at the same time creating more necessary resources that in turn create more jobs. Only when capitalist greed is forgotten or at least reduced can we achieve this. NO government has ever worked and no one economist has ever really understood economy, but parts of each governments have their good parts along with their bad parts. We need to quit thinking our way is right and all nations need to work together. Classes need to be done away with. Sure maybe some should have more money than others, but nobody needs a billion dollars. Nobody needs a million dollars. I see all these people making $100,000 and I have lived off of $800 - $1200 a month my whole life (and even less at times) and I was ok. Even if I made $3000 a month after taxes I would be more than happy. Can't imagine what I would need the extra money for. I have things I want. Television, computer, cable internet, books, video games, movies, bills paid and a roof over my head with way less than that. There is no easy way to generate money that will not hurt and take away from someone else. Companies making 300% profit on an item when, from experience, you can make 30% profit and still be comfortable, pay your employees more and still turn a profit. People just want to retire at 35 and that is ridiculous.

I see your point about what it takes to make money but I'm talking about what can YOU do to generate more money for yourself. If your idea expands and needs more people that would be great. If its just something for you to capitalize on then that's a personal victory.

Capitalism helps create jobs, has the government created any private sector jobs? No, just more government jobs.

Sure it's a personal gain, but inadvertently at someone else's loss. Always. I do not understand how people embrace capitalism without feeling guilty.

I think a Co-operative website would be the way to go in this economy. Sort of Ebay for all your friends and family. They put thing on it to sell, either made by them or things they wanted to be rid of. Everything would be a community thing. I think it would nice and very effective and helpful for alot of people needing to make some extra money right now.

Now that is a good idea, involve the community so no one person is 99% in charge. Good idea!

I wish I could do that, then I would not be sitting here trying to make money all the time on line, cent by cent lol. I really can't think of anything worthwhile at the moment.

The "green" jobs are called that for a reason, because somebody is going to make some green on them.

There you go. Crafts are very popular, perhaps you could set up a booth at the mall or a convention. Ebay is always a great way to make some extra money.

That is a no-brainer. With the economy the way it is there has been a rise in the burglaries and break-ins hear-abouts, so I would invent a better kind of lock. I went to the hardware store today and the clerks there never hear of a bump-proof lock even though they sold them in that store. So I was explaining it to the hardware guys. They were actually quite interested. People could be creating home and asset protection services.

You caused me to do some research on a bump-proof lock, I think this would be a great idea to help people become safer. You should go back there and ask to be a door to door sales person for them.

If I could I might get rich. Unfortunately the only thing I can think of to do right now to generate income is to sell more books and to do more internet writing. Hopefully I will be able to generate more writing income this next year then I did last year. But it seems a lot of sites just toy with people and are generous in the begining, and then taper off and get worse after a couple of months. I need to work more on the ones that have been consistent over the years.

Since so many banks are failing these days, how about a mattress with a hiding place for your cash savings

Hello my friend gitfiddleplayer Ji, One had immediate option to mark 'Jesus' birth day, just passed only as hisB'day and would not have celebrated 'Chrismas'. Similarly, welcoming New Year as well with less pomp and show. Controlling such things will generate extra money for other necessaties in the family. Just think, there are many more ways to save money.May God bless You and have a great time.
