Some brilliant people in the US & the UK are having Swine Flu parties. A friend or family member comes down with a mild case of the Swine Flu & they throw a party so they & their friends can catch the Swine Flu in order to build up their immunities against it. They think it will stop them from catching the Swine Fly later. If that were a true fact, I'd NEVER need to take another flu shot!!! I used to get the seasonal flu twice a year but NEVER developed an immunity to it. Doctors say that I can have a mild case of Swine Flu & pass it on to you & you might get a severe case of it. I don't trust doctors, but I do know enough about the flu to believe this is true. So, my question is...would you go to a Swine Flu party so you could catch the Swine Flu??? Why or why not???

I remember people doing that with measles when I was a child. I was supposed to get them from my brother but got chickenpox instead!
I would not go to a swine flu or any other disease party. While I'm not phobic about germs, I won't go out of my way to get sick!

And I know for a fact you wouldn't take your grandbaby to one in hopes of saving its life!!! I don't care how strong your immune system is, there's NO need to tempt fate.

The line of thinking is that, if they get the Swine Flu now, they'll be immune to it later & actually build up an immunity to it. We ALL know it doesn't work that way!!! If we could build up an immunity to the Flu, NOBODY would ever have it!!!

I don't know if links are allowed on here so I hope your discussion does not get deleted. Anyway I've heard of chicken pox parties but havent heard of swine flu parties yet. I understand why they do them but to me I'd rather try to avoid getting the swine flu then get it on purpose or get the vaccine. I didnt get myself or my kids a flu vaccine this year. We are healthy so I figure if we get the flu we should be fine. The seasonal flu and swine flu kill a lot of people but I think at least 80 percent of them have other health problems and my family doesnt. My daughter went to school during the heaviest point of the swine flu giong around and although she was exposed to it many times she never caught it. I am thankful for that. I myself would not go to a swine flu party or get the vaccine I just stay away from people who I know are sick with the swine flu. You can take precautions but you cant avoid the flu completely as its air borne.

You're smart!!! I've spent most of the last 4 months avoiding people with the Swine Flu. I find it INSANE to go to a party in order to catch it!!!

BINGO!!! You just said it ALL...take the risk of dying I would rather avoid catching the Swine Flu than heading it face on!!! You have the chance of dying BOTH ways. Due to medical reasons, I take the Seasonal Flu shot every year. I chose to NOT take the Swine Flu shot as I don't trust it just yet. I had a long talk with my doctor & she agreed with me that I was making the right decision. I've survived this round of Swine Flu by simply using some common sense. I wash my hands frequently, I wipe down my cart at the store before using it, & I keep my hands away from my face. I also used my Netti Pot several times a week or anytime my throat felt scratchy. I cut back on my shopping during the worst part of the Flu season so I wouldn't be around people who might have it. Maybe I was just dayum lucky, but I like to think I was smart!!!

Oh whatever, and NO, I would never do that. How ridiculous that sounds. With my luck I'd get one of the worst cases ever imagined and land myself in the hospital, lol!
No, I love myself too much to even attempt a mild case. That reminds me of years ago when everyone use to bring their kids together when one of them had the Chicken Pox so they can catch it and be done with it..ugh. Um, No thank you, I'm gonna pass on this one just like I passed on the Chicken Pox one.

Hi LadyM,
Being honest I wouldn't go to a swine flu party..I have just had the swine flu and it really isn't nice so wouldn't want to have it again am sure people will pass it on again if they have had it or not and if they had the sense they wouldn't go to the party either! LoLo

Um... No, I wouldn't purposely try to make my self ill. I heard about similar parties before with other illnesses. People are just plain weird these days. I hate to say it but I hope they do get swine flu and die. We would be better off without them.

I know quie a few people who have come down with swine flu, its not that nice really.. But i am tempted, I do fear the thought that the strong virus will appear and I'll be more vulnerable..
If it didn't get in the way of my studies, I'd let myself go down under it.
fear does strange things to people!

KEEP THAT FEAR!!! Your friends who have had the Swine Flu may very well have the stronger virus when it shows up. Even crazier, you could get a stronger version of the virus from your friends who appear to have only a mild case. I find it CRAZY to catch ANY illness on purpose!!!

But it's been the case, including one of the most recent 'plague like' virus in europe, where those who gained the earlier version even though got ill, when the second strain appeared, those already has immunities and survived.
I'd ate to think that I'd lived a far too sterile life, protecting myself from colds and flus... Just to have it thrown back in my face.

please do not attend a swine flu party as this could be injurious to your health.swine flu is not good and note that doctors are not conversant with such.

I would not go to anything for the purpose of getting sick or trying to build up my immunity. I think that is asking for undue trouble. A Christian's body is to be the temple of the Holy Spirit. It is important then that I keep that temple in good shape.
However, I would go to pray for a sick person, asking God to heal them according to His will. If God so wills, He would protect me from getting the illness.
