its really a hit already that during reunions or any kind of celebration that people goes to karaoke or rent a karaoke unit. some people even held contest to who gets the highest score. and the looser will buy another round of drinks or chips. i am in a band.... i also sing in a band. but i guess i am already used on singing while carrying my guitar. i get so nervous when my guitar is not around so i have hard time singing in karaoke. for me its home or i feel safe to sing with my guitar on. wierd but true. har har har. do you love singing in karaokes? share funny experiences for us to laugh about.

Yes! I love singing a lot. Several years ago, I started visiting karaoke lounges and I spent a lot of time going there (almost one visit every week). Now that prices have increased significantly (due to a lot of charges that suddenly starts to pop up with the popularity of karaoke growing. Thus, I joined a band instead and able to sing live! If only I could sing and play instrument. Cos I am not a very good singer but I like music a lot and I hope to do something that is related to music. But I have no idea why I just can't cooperate with guitar well. LOL

practise makes perfect. if you can put your heart and soul on it then you will get it. give atleast 2 hours or more daily on practising then you will get it. i grew up on a family of musicians so there is always guitar and other musical instrument at home available. so you just need to practise more to get it. good luck war and happy new year to you and your family

you will get used to it, as long as you practice. i am playing bass guitar with my band and sometimes it is hard to sing also when the bass has difficult tone. or if the strumming is to fast then it is not easy to sing while doing the instrument. its much easier to sing with guitar. just practise and you will get used to singing and playing at the same time

My dad is a fan of music but of different language and genre but none of my family members played any instrument (although my sis did attempt to learn pop keyboard). I joined guitar club previously and I went for classes with Yamaha. However, till now, I can't understand notes (thus I played with score that has guitar tabs) and I am still trying to perfect the first part of the Romance D' Armor. But what I really can't do is to sing and strum at the same time. How do you cope with it? Happy New Year to you too!

Yes I enjoy it because it somehow releases my tension a bit...at the same time it's very enjoying especially when you can't reach the high notes or when you don't know the lyrics and you still go on and sing...Karaoke singing is special when you spend it with friends and family.

yeah, it totally agree with you there...the more fun part is when you can't reach the high tone...especially when you don't have the voice just as long your confident to sing...then that's it! It's fun...happy new year and happy mylotting.

I have NEVER sang karaoke, mainly because I'm not yet 21 and can't legally go to bars (where all the karaoke is). I don't know that I would enjoy it even if I was of legal age. I'm not THAT outgoing - and I don't have that amazing of a voice. I would imagine maybe if I were really hammered or something it might be fun, though. Or if I had someone up there doing it with me!

i am not that outgoing too, but sitting there and laughing was still a great time and fun time too. though i guess you still need to ba in a legal age or if your older cousins that are adults already can tag you along then you can experience it. you can also have fun on karaoke right in your house. some people enjoy singing alone. thanks a lot for the response and happy new year to you and your family

I'm way too shy for that! I like music and if I were to perform songs (I write my own) I'd be so nervous. But for some reason, karaoke seems scarier to me!

there are karaoke that they call karaoke box it can only fit two persons, guess you can try something like that just for experience. its not that scarry at all. but i guess that is natural that when song writers are the one pushed to sing they get scared. guys like you are more confident to write it down than to sing it. thanks a lot for the response

I love singing in karaoke, well im not that good but its still very fun to have a good time if its at a pub or with family and friends. The bad part about karaoke is if people make fun of you when you are trying you hardes like its not very fun if that happens because people like that just ruin your time.
I allways like to listen to karaoke because when i hear my friends sing i think wow where did that come from, i remember when my freind john sang help by the beatles he did a brilliant job at it i was very proud of him.

Hi se7enthbird,
Um... score? You mean using one of those computerized scoring programs that were popular once?
Normally nowadays, I just do sing at karaoke joints and there is no scoring (at least I didn't know I can activate it). I just enjoy myself... let off some steam and the likes.

it does make people relax when you sing it out. har har har. i know those scores are not accurate but it adds fun to some group if they base it on scoring. some who are not that good in singing suprisingly gets the highest score har har har. thanks a lot for the sharing and have a wonderful new year to you and your family

I don't do the karaoke but on Christmas Eve we went out with another couple and both my b/f and his best friend had a blast doing the karaoke. I had a great time just listening to them and the others. I don't know why but I am a big chicken when it comes to being up in front of people..especially singing.

Singing is my first love since I was a child and I really do enjoy it especially in our reunions.Because of my passion to this I even would like to play piano while singing. There were times even that I tried to compose song, though it's just a part of collection or it's just a part of hobby or interest.Because of my love of singing, my attention is easily caught by a person who knows how to play guitar or piano while singing.Singing in karaoke/videoke has been a way of my bonding with my family, brothers and sisters, and even with my cousins..

that is true that karaoke is one way of bonding with families and relatives. i have a family of musicians so you can imagine how karaoke would be like. before the birth of karaoke in our reunion we set up stage so we can play instruments and sing. now it is more simple just bring out a unit of karaoke machine and we can all sing one at a time. thanks a lot for the response and have a joyful bew year to you and your family

I like singing and i think karaoke is one of the best option for singing while we have time to enjoying it. Of course karaoke needs good karaoke system, good sound system, and good microphone for better singing satisfaction. Such good systems need much money of course. I like singing in my own room because it's free since i don't need to spend some money for karaoke on a karaoke room. But some of my friends like to singing karaoke in karaoke room which i think is very expensive, and it costs hourly. Sometimes i also singing karaoke in my friend's home since she has karaoke system in her own home. I think it's a good idea, but of course we can't expecting good performance as well as on a professional karaoke room. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

it is true that cool karaoke bars are expensive but you get the good quality of sound system. you would really sound like a PRO in karaoke bars that are like that. but if you invite more friends and chip-in for the expences then i think it will be not that expensive. and if you will do it only if there is an occasion then that would be fun. thanks a lot for the response and have a wonderful new year to you and your family

I actually don't have any funny experiences to share about singing karaoke, but I really do enjoy singing it. I used to go to one of the local bars two times a week to sing, but that was before I was a mother of two children. The year that my daughter was born, my husband bought me a professional grade karaoke machine and some discs for that and I've been singing at home ever since. Even my daughter, who is now seven years old really enjoys singing as well. I think that it is a very fun hobby to have and it is relaxing to me as well.

Hi se7enthbird! I agree videoke, karaoke or magic sing are very common or I should say always present on special occasions like Christmas, birthdays, New Year, reunions and other get together parties...
I also love to sing. Well I guess, the secret of getting a high score in videoke machines is to sing loudly and sing the lyrics timely... In my country, the love for singing is in our nature... Everybody is singing whether he or she is good or out of tune

Ha ha ha!!! We ( actually i think almost all does this thing)normally rent karaoke unit
for special occasions like baptisms, birthdays, reunion, weddings etc. (this is as a habit) and its really included in the routine that if their was a occasion at home or other place we do normally used a karaoke unit as a recreational one.. We know that almost all of us love to sings so karaoke unit will never be depart from this kind of occasion.and even if we doesn't have parties we sometimes rent karaoke unit. It gives a site of excitement and happiness to you and to your visitors. Love it so much! Mostly if the karaoke are updated with the new songs in the land.

Yes, lots of my friends just love to karaoke, but personally I'm not that into it, maybe because I only know a few songs and I'm not a good singer. I do enjoy somebody who can sing to entertain others, but I always hate it when in a group, somebody just can't let go of the microphone and kept on singing while the others nearly don't get a chance.

har har har, and i have that experience as well. for me if i dont get the chance then it is much better. but some people in the room want to have a hold of the microphone as well. specially if that person gets a little tipsy he/she thinks that he/she is so good that he/she never let go of the mike. that happened to me and my wife already and the group ended up having fun chatting and no one already is listening to the person singing. har har har. thanks a lot for the response and have a wonderful new year ahead
