Countless actors and sitcom stars got there start in stand up comedy. RoseAnne Bar, Bill Cosby, Ray Ramano, Cheech and Chong, Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, George Lopez, even Tom Hanks, and the list goes on and on. So who's your favorite stand up comedian? My personal vote is for Robin Williams. His stand up is not only hilarous but nobody can do what he does quite like him. A close second is Ralphie May. This man is not neccessarily mainstream yet, but he will be soon enough. One of the funniest people I have ever seen in my life.

I just Robin William's new comedy special on HBO. It was very funny. Some of my favorite comedians are: Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams, George Carlin(RIP), Ellen DeGeneres, Lewis Black, and Kathy Griffin. I also like to watch SNL, really loved Tina Fey and Amy Pohler!!
I like Roseanne Barr, Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy. George Lopez is okay, sometimes funny , sometimes not! I know there are others I am forgetting, just can't think of them right now.

Oh god there are so many good ones, I don't know if I could pick just one. I'd have to start off with George Carlin -- may he rest in peace. He was such a comedy genius. I also love Robin Williams, Eddie Izzard, Ron White, Carlos Mencia, Jeff Dunham, Cedric the Entertainer, Bernie Mac, Bill Cosby, Pablo Francisco (hope I spelled that right), Josh Blue, Dennis Leary... I could go on for quite awhile. I think if I had to pick one... I can't.
George Carlin, Robin Williams and Eddie Izzard.

A fellow big time stand up fan I see. In my original post I kind of associated alot of them with television, and probably didn't mention enough. George Carlin was infact an absolute genius on stage. Dennis Leary is underated in my opinion if that's possible. Your right there are so many great ones over the years. I have a few, but your list makes me want to start a stand up comedy series of DVD's all as there own catagory.

I have not heard of him, but hopefully he is up and coming and I will hear about him soon. Right now my favorite comedian out there is probably Lisa Lamponelli, she is bold and rude, and just really funny. There are not a lot of comedians active these days, but it is great to see a good comedian and have a good laugh.

Hello, Raven. I originate from the UK, so I don't think you'll have heard of my favourite comedians. Ken Dodd is my all time favourite, and he's still going strong at well past 80. I also liked the late Mike Reid, who was also a very good actor. Jethro, a West Country comedian, is also very funny.
I'm not so keen on the new crop of comedians, as too many of them seem to think it's funny just to pepper every joke with expletives and insult the audience, but I do like Dara O' Briaian, an Irish comedian. He was on last night in a stand up show and I was aching from laughing by the end of the show.
I'm sorry to say it, but I haven't found an American comedian I really like, although I've seen a couple of Robin Williams' shows and enjoyed them. He's also a brilliant actor, so I'm definitely a fan.

One of my favorite stand up comedians would have to be Dave Chapelle. Other then that I'm not all that huge of a fan of stand up because a lot of them aren't really all that funny. I like Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job live though and it's pretty much like stand up.
Another one of my favorite stand up comedians is Zach Galifinakis. He was in the movie the Hangover that came out not to long ago and he has a really unique style of comedy.

I like almost every comedian you have listed in your discussion topic. I also enjoy Tyler Perry's "Medea" character.
I think Robin Williams is hilarious in comedies such as movies. I haven't seen him do stand up comedy recently.
Whoopie Goldberg is another favorite actress/comedian of mine. I appreciate Chris Rock more as he ages and Bernie Mac was great.
In fact there are so many talent people out there that I can't remember the name of all of them.

My favorite is Dave Chappelle. His two standups "Killing Them Softly" and "For What It's Worth" are the two funniest I have ever heard by far. His show was hilarious, hiis movies were hilarious. I wish he'd come back and do more stuff.

I chose Jim Carrey. Very funny look on his face in Ace Ventura and The Mask. I also like Rowan Atkinson in Mr. Bean. Unfortunately, his role in Johnny English -though the comedy movie- not much humor and funny.

He's a bit new to the scene but I would have to say Russel Brand. The man is edgy, british, and the stuff that comes out of his mouth is amazing. Great comedian coming to the scene at just the right time in my opinion. I suggest checking him out.
