Christmas and the recession

This Christmas for most of the people I know reached an all time low this year. Many of them did not get to spoil their children or spouses like they wanted to and the mercantile industry must really have foundered which will translate to more closures and layoffs in the new year. LOOKING FORWARD- Rather than lament and bellyache about Christmas past though, what are your plans to try to avoid a repeat next year? I have embarked on a few of the "free" online opportunities and I shall endeavor to get at least one to pan out for at least the first quarter of the year. If that doesn't work out I will find and try something else. My goal though is to get up enough money to start my pole studio before this time next year. I cannot control the economy and I cannot control the future. All that I can do is keep trying to find my path around the obstacles that stand between my life and the life that I want. Eventually I will find my way over, under, or around the impasse. Keep the faith everyone. Try to think and be positive. Keep trying because giving up is not an option. As the new year is upon us, commit to do something to improve your income and your lifes prospects, something concrete other than dreaming or wishing. Keep me updated! My prayers are with you and I hope that yours are with me too.

It is not such a bad thing that they didn't get everything that they wanted this year. Older children don't normally believe in Santa Claus anymore and they are old enough to comprehend what is going on around them with the recession dragging along as the unemployment rate goes up and up, there is absolutely no way that they do not know about the financial situation in your home. They know dad's not going to work every morning like he was for six months. That should somewhat lower their expectations. You are also very practical to buy Christmas gifts all year round to spread the money out over not just one or two months income but all twele months worth of income, you can also shop sales. Good budgeting and good planning are the hallmarks of good parenting.

My husband and I had a good Christmas because we were able to spend freely, now though we are starting to pay bills, and saving for our own car and a house. I hope that next year, I will be able to spoil my husband even more with gifts, and also be able to have a car, and if not a home, be well on our way to one. I know that I need to stick to it though, and just keep earning. We both have our own offline jobs, and we both mylot. Hopefully we'll make enough to spoil ourselves, and our family as well. I hope that your goals pan out and that you have a wonderful year with making the money you need for your pole studio. May I ask what a pole studio is? I do not mean to be naive, but it does sound interesting, and I can't start to guess what it could be!

My main hobby is pole dancing for fitness. I used to teach at a studio in North Hollywood but then I moved back to the desert. Pole studios are gyms with poles installed for Pole Dancing classes. I have a you tube channel of me pole dancing. Though I have my pole outside and thus I am succeptible to the vagaries of the weather. Luckily I live in Southern California so the weather is fairly nice during the day and in the summertime I practice mostly at night. My youtube channel is www.youtube.com/synnisin or you can just go to the youtube site and type synnisin in the search bar.

Oh yes, I don't know why I hadn't thought of that. It makes sense that a pole studio is just a studio with poles for pole dancing, as fitness? Very nice. Are these studio's mirror equipped like ballernia classrooms are? I'll have to check said videos out later.

Our landlord did the same thing last year though it was closer to mid year as opposed to the end. They increase it because they are seeing their incomes dwindling as more of their tenants default on their rent and move out. They have empty units and no one wanting to rent them so the tenants that they do have bear the brunt of their reduced incomes. Plus they figure if you're strapped for cash then you can't afford to move. The last reason is because they are greedy. They don't want to let their income slide like everyone elses is because they don't want to give up any of their creature comforts.

It seems that we are not affected by recession many people are in the mall and bazaar buying gifts last Christmas. As of now there are many people buying clothes and anything for New Year. I know it can help the economy when people going to spend more money these holidays. This year is very difficult for us because of the calamities and the recession that we experienced. Many lost their homes and their loved ones but still we are optimistic that next year our life going to be better.

The holidays is an awful time to be broke and or to lose your home. It seems that the recession has hit a lot of people hard. There isn't enough money out there for people to spend like they used to. This year it was mostly parents and the impractical that spent money lavishly for Christmas. That is usually the case because of the Santa Claus mythology. Santa doesn't get affected by recession I guess. Since you never get a second chance to make memories with your kids I don't begrudge parents spending money however they wish on their families. Some people will still be paying off Christmas next Christmas.

I have already taken steps to get a head so to speak in the new year. I began writing articles online for a man who pays through paypal and I have got paid twice waiting now on my third payment now. It is not much but every 100 words is 10 cents more on my payment my highest so far has been 9.20 and willing to make it higher if I can write enough articles for higher in a weeks time with life and all the other things I need to do. I am also looking job sites and willing to try anything that will help. I know many of you out there need help and I am quite good at budgeting and showing people how to get more out of there lives by doing little things. Like how to shop to get more which is simple but many people do not think before they shop they just go pick up what they see and want without looking for the options. I go to the store and see how much I can save or get free and believe me now it is harder to do for many coupons are not out there like they were a few years ago but I still get my shampoo for a year for less then ten dollars. I still get other things as well cheap and bulk is not everyone idea thing for they are limited on space but I can also get around space issues sometimes and help. I can do many things with little to work with. I can even help people in getting bills reduced in there lives if given time to work out a plan for them. I have 3 regular bills in my life right now and that is my rent, phone and my storage bill where I moved and have most of my stuff in storage but most can not get this low for most places do not include everything in the rent. But almost anyone can reduce the bills they do have if they really think about it. I am willing to help anyone out there if they truly need some help with any of what I have talked about just give me a shout out and can send you my email and maybe help you in someway get a little better off for next christmas. I can recommend collecting coke pr pepsi points to get rewards for believe it or not you can really get some nice things from both and even works for christmas presents. I also recommend joining e-rewards.com and earn money for things like magazines I know that is how I get my brother and a few of my friends magazines in prison. Cheap way to send people things like that and can work for christmas presents as well. Zoompanel is another one I recommend to earn points and prizes such as movies another great way to give gifts as well. Kelloggs also has the movie things on there boxes another way to collect movies for no cash out of pocket and believe me that has been a savings for my family for them dvds are sure nice to get. Also watch for cereal offers such as books in them and on them for kids cheap or free is better then 5 or more for them. Also there is a club book of the month club where you can get a book every month for 9.95 total counting shipping for as long as you want to be a member. Also a cd club too like this. This is a few things to help people save in more ways then maybe they could think of or have time to think on.

For finding bargains and stuff like that I am also good, what I am not good at is holding on to the money that I "save" because I have more needs and wants than I have money for and so the savings just enables me to buy something else but saving money, like in a savings account or something, that is kind of beyond me.

Im doing the same thing... doing my best to look forward rather than behind. This was the worst Christmas as far as not having money to do things for our children. The did surivive i do feel guilty but its over. Time to look forward to having a better year in 2010. Ive decided to concentrate more on developing my graphics skills and doing things on RedGage, Mylots, Ehow and looking at other opportunities that maybe out there. I will be using any earnings to help with next Christmas and to help with the cost of shipping things and packages to our military son to make his deployment alittle more tolerable. Thanks everyone on mylots that share their ideas about making alittle income from the internet. Im not here to get rich just here to help my children have alittle better life. Sharone you have a really good attitude looking for the future and not letting anything hold ya back.

Thank you very much. I have started with a couple of the "make money online" companies in an attempt to charge my finances and start this year off headed in the right direction. I started with them on the first of the month, we shall see what comes of it in the coming months. I must say though that I am getting referrals and earning commissions already. Good luck to you.

I did fairly well this year, between handmade gifts and saving year round. For next year, I am going to build up points and things to get gift cards to buy gifts with. I'm not too worried, although that's easy with an entire year to work.

I have stepped up my efforts for my FREE online money makers. Amazingly one of them - in which I sell products that I create,Zazzle- actually had double the sales that I did this time last year. So some people either have more money to spend or my products are just getting more popular. :-) Either way I made over $55 this month and I am happy and hope it continues into next month as it did last year. My other site Actually involves me earning from other people SAVING money while they shop.. So that is an easy sell in this economy. I have had 11 referrals sign up in just 3 months and with every purchase they made- they got great deals and cash back and I earned commission from their shopping. A win/win situation if you ask me.. I am looking to build up my referrals here as I see others are making from $150-$250 a month from their referrals purchases. Not bad for another FREE to join site! Check it out - the bigcrumbs banner on my profile page.. It's amazing!

I am glad that your network marketing is working out for you. Some people say that it is a recession proof income. People are looking for ways to save money, boost their energy, lose weight, and make money so your organizatio should continue to grow. I am glad to hear that someone is doing well in these tough economic times.

Your words are really an encouragement, I plan to do same, getting a job in this economy is difficult and I am at home with the internet so why don't I make good use of it. I would advice you to check up with others on sites that are legit and how to invest to get good results. Thank you again for the words.

Here in the Philippines, it's actually a bit weird since people do not seem "poor" during Christmas. All year, people would worry about money and how hard life has become but surprisingly during Christmas season, people would lavishly decorate their homes, spend much on food and shower gifts and money to children. it's really nice to know that even though life has become harder each day, people still value Christmas and never forget to enjoy and celebrate the birth of the Lord. No matter how hard the rest of the year had become, people can't still let the Christmas season pass without celebrating. :D

I have noticed that Phillipinos are much thriftier than Anericans. They know how to scrimp and cut corners to save a little money up until it becomes a lot. However unlike several other cultures that come to mind, Phillipinos know how to party, they know what is important in life, and they also know how to work together to build something greater than anything that they could build as individuals. I have several friends that are from the Phillipine Islands and they all seem to be like this. They also hold family to be above all else.
