I have a friend who said she was injury prone .It seemed she was always falling down .She said there were times in her life when she was always falling down .She said she could just be standing up and before she knew it she would be down on the ground .I never thought much of it a t the time but now that I think about it I remember reading it somewhere that there is a part of the ear that controls balance. Consequently I guess this means that her balance control must be off. Ever hear of anyone else with this problem and may you suggest possible reasons for this condition ?

My sons were always falling over during their growth spurts as the body could not keep up with the size of their feet.If she does keep falling over she may get dizzy as well, some type of inner ear problem or spacial awareness problems.Poor thing, tell her to get checked out there is normally a reason for anything like this it is just a case of finding out what it is.

Well during their young years that always happens but I guess in time they will learn their coordination in time and may even grow up to be footballers and hockey players and race car drivers and you wonder where the clumsiness was when they wer younger.I was wondering the same thing about her and her balance

You don't stop growing till you are twenty one anyway.Depends on how old she is.Everyone is different. Some people just have poor concentration or try to rush what ever they are doing and that can cause problems. One of my grandaughters walks around in a dream always doing something to herself, forgetting things ,some people just have these traits and nothing can be done about it.If your friend is always rushing or moving fast, trying to hard these can be corrected naturally. There is noamally a reason not always medical as such ,I am a right laugh ,see the funny side of everything. My friends just put up with me.We all have something. If she feels unwell or extra tired do something otherwise she just might need friends to take a plaster or a dust pan and brush with you when you are out with her.

I don't know anyone who does this but that gotto be awful. I wonder if she has talked w/a dr. about this. I f it is ineer earproblems i would think there would be a med she could take to help it. She could really get hurt being that way. I hope she can find something that will help her.

I dont think she has spoken with her doctor because she has never taken it to be something really serious ,I think she just assumes that she has really messed up balance

What you have mentioned is not injury prone. There is a problem and hence it is happening. But oh yes, my own son. I just get worried now when he is driving and keep praying that he reaches home safely. Only then I breathe a sigh of relief. Here at home itself, he keeps banging into anything and gets injured. Either it is a tiny fracture, or a ligament tear. Even while shutting our big iron gate, he gets his finger jammed. It can be frightening because you don't know what next??

Hi, ronnyb. I have heard of people that are like this. The only thing that can help them is if they seek the attention of a highly trained physician. That way, they can recover from this condition. I know that there are many people that are easily to become bruised on the skin. Having an sufficient amount of Vitamin K in the body will help to avoid this issue.

Yes she probably should stop taking it lightly and seek the help of a doctor .

Well I've always been injury prone when I was younger, but it wasn't because of my ear, I've just always been clumsy. Everytime, I tried to play outside with my siblings running around and all that, I'd always fall down somewhere, my knees are all scarred up because I was always falling down on them..lol. Now there is such a thing called an "Inner Ear Infection", it controls the balance part of your ear, and if you get that infection it makes you dizzy, and off balance, and if your not careful it can make you have falls. The only thing to do there is go to a doctor and he will prescribe some antibiotics for the infection, and probably some motion sickness medicine such as Dramamine, for the dizzy's. I've had it before I know what I'm talking about.

Hi, why refer someone, infact i myself was injury prone when i was young.Till the age of some 10 years, i was always hurt.I has scars, bruises on my body.I used to fall donw a lot and injure myself while playing which didnt happen to my friends who were also playing with me.The only possible solution is to be careful.Else have a tough body so that these injuries wouldn't matter much to the body.

Some people have good balance and some people don't. I can roller skate on four wheels but I cannot in line skate or wear ice skates. I know it has to do with the inner ear and balance, its developed when you walk, some people might not have the right fluid or lack some on certain side. I've known people with hearing problems that didn't have good balance.

I watched something on television about this a while ago. There are numerous medical conditions that can cause a person to consider his or her self ‘clumsy’ so it can certainly be a physical problem. In the same program they discussed the fact that this particular issue can be psychological and the more a person tells themselves he or she is accident prone, the more likely the person is to injure his or her self. I’m not sure...Both suggestions make sense; if I were your friend I would get a check up with a doctor as soon as possible.

What about MS or Multiple sclerosis? It's neurological, muscle weakness... etc. Well, I'm not a medical expert, I suggest she should see a doctor. We could give lists of illness in this forum, but that might only aggravate things, it could make you and her worry about sickness that might not really be relevant in her case.
