I think it just shows that you have a good relationship with them!
I wouldn't feel guilty, but I would be grateful!
My kids know what we went through when they were growing up, and they understand that sometimes life just seems to be going 'uphill' !

My daughter is 15 years old. So I have not lived and had her pay my bills. But,if she has money and I am broke. She will use it to buy food,or give me some of it. If I try to give it back she will get mad. So I do believe I will just let her pay it when the time does come. We took good care of our kids they soon get the chance to do it for us.

i dont think there is any point to feeling guilty because a family is supposed to help each other. what if your parents pay your bills for you? (my hubby has been out of work since august and while we are not young, our parents have given us cash now and again.)

I would imagine there would be some guilt AND gratefulness involved in this. I can understand it. I'm not a parent, but I've helped my dad out with utility bills when he needed it (and I will probably do so in the future). He usually pays me back, though. I don't think you should feel all that guilty though. You've done so much for your kids - they cost you so much money, you raised them - I think they deserve to help you out here and again.

George and I don't have kids or a back up plan like that. We feed off each other. I end up paying the bills while he pays for food and what is needed to maintain the truck, fuel, oil, anti-freeze etc. After the bills I'm almost literly left with nothing. So I rely on George a lot. And, yes there is gulit behind it because I hate asking for money.
