Now this might seem like a rhetorical question to you because you are saying that everyone drinks ice water however back in the day before refridgerator, many persons would drink water directly from the tap .In fact many persons drank rain water or water directly from a spring .It is these traditionalist and many health concious persons now who hold steadfast to the fact that ice water is not good for you something about the water affecting the functions of enzymes in our system.
So are you one of those people who refuse to drink ice cold water on health reason or there is nothing like a a long glass of cold water or even beverage on a hot summer day ?.You can give your health reasons too why cold water should or should not be consumed under no circumstances

Actually, it makes sense if you think about it, that ice water shocks the system like going out into the cold shocks your system. Your outer body does not deal well with cold so your inner body doesn't either. The best thing is to drink room temp water and if you try it, you will realize that it not only tastes much better, it goes down easier. I've never been one who likes any type of drink with ice in it and I don't really like drinks that are very cold either. Ice water drops the body temp and it must work fairly hard to get back to the normal body temp of 98.6, this tends to put a lot of strain on all the systems. This was a great question and I hope it helps people understand that they don't have to drink their beverages ice cold, when in actuality, it's much better to drink them on the warm side!

Where do you live that your unchilled water tastes good to you??
I've had great water (ice cold, by the way) straight from the rock in natural springs which tastes Heavenly, but ordinary, "downstream" city tap water? Blehh! And a lot of supposed "spring" water one buys in bottles is just tap water. What a scam.
What I do is, once in a while, buy a 6-pack, drink it, then reuse the bottles. I fill them, drink some, & when it gets warm, I poke it in the freezer with the lid popped. Later I take it, frozen, add more water from the tap, & it goes wherever I go.
Water is my favorite thing to drink--but unless I KNOW it came from a spring, I keep it cold!
And I have no feeling of "strain" on my system, either. In fact, regular, non-chilled H2O makes me sick to my stomach. Always has, even when I had well-water as a kid!

I had never heard ice water was not good for u. I don't drink much water which i know is not good from what all the experts say. I do drink iced tea the year around. I love the water out of the tap right now because it's just like ice water since the ground is cold & makes the water cold. I guess if we gave up everything they tell u is not good for u, we'd have a hard time finding something to eat or drink.

Iced or room temperature it is still water so it is still good for you and keeps the body hydrated. I have read that room temperature water is better for you, but I can not remember the reasoning for it. To me room temperature water does not taste right. I don't feel comfortable drinking it and it does not quench my thirst as well as cold water. But I have read that warm or room temperature water is best, I wish I could remember why. But I don't see how ice water can be bad for you, it just might not be as good for you as room temp. water.

That's rite ladym. Room temepratue water is best. Not only cold water which is not good but also hot water. The extreme temperature water is not good for our body. It triggers to increase cough n spasm. I don't like cold water b'coz I've got sinusitis disorder, n it can triggers the condition get worse.

I don't know about that, when its hot and you need to cool off you should drink something cool. Your body will not shut down or warm up to combat the cool temperature of a drink. If you drink hot coco on a hot day your body doesn't cool down so it won't overheat.

I don't really think it makes any difference ice cold or from the tap.I get brain freeze from drinking ice cold drinks to quickly. On a hot day Imay drink an ice cold drink. It is another one of those things to sell something fridge freezers this time, another gimmick.I would think as long as you drink two litres a day of fluid as long as it is not alchohol it is up to the person what they like. There are no health reasons for drinking ice cold water at all.

There's no reason why ice water is bad for you. Water is water, regardless of the temperature. Ice water is beneficial for people on a diet, as the body will have to burn calories in order to bring the water up to body temperature.
Personally, I just drink water at whatever temperature it comes out of the tap. It's not freezing cold, but I can't bear lukewarm water either.

Well, I really love to drink cold water or ice water most especially when I am very thirsty. But my old folks does not drink cold water or ice water all the time. They say that its not good for digestion considering that cold water slows down the digestion process. I have also read some health articles that drinking cold water may cause heart attack most especially if you heart disease. Well, for healthy persons, I do not see any other problems except perhaps with the digestion aspect.

I don't know where they would get the idea that drinking cold water is not good for you, our bodies are mostly water, if we don't get any water we will dry up, and get dehydrated and that isn't good. Water helps our bodies flush out toxins that shouldn't be there. I like drinking water, especially on hot days, there's nothing else I would rather drink, it helps me to feel refreshed and cools me off.

I've drunk melted snow, at Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park. That was the first time in my life I finally found water cold enough to please me!
I don't care if it kills me, I'm not giving it up; I've been a lover of barely-thawed water since I was a kid sneaking sips from the family jug in the fridge, while standing in the open door!
Nope. If it's bad for me, I don't even wanna know!

I do not know the scientific reasons for not drinking ice water but I have stopped drinking ice water and I have had great results. I have speaking engagements so I realise that when I use tap water I have a clear voice plus I can consume more which is important for maintenance of good health.
I have learnt that when one uses this water it causes "big belly" to occur. How scientific is this I do not know but I see that I have a fairly flat stomach against those who indulge in the drinking of ice water, so it could have some credence.
Sometimes I am forced to drink ice water because of the social setting. But, here I control myself. I have known persons whose sinus problems have become worst becuse they continue to have ice water. I have personally adviced them against that practise and when they came off the use of the ice water they have experienced a better health. Clearly, ice water have some negative effects on our health, however, I would not say that it must not be consumed under no circumstances.

I dont drink water with ice but I like drinking cold water because it quench my thirst. Sometimes I want ice in my softdrinks when the weather is really hot specially during summer. Drinking too much cold beverage gives pain to my teeth, so its not good for me. What I know is drinking ice cold or simple cold water during or after a meal gives indigestion discomfort.

I never knew ice water to be an disadvantage to my body. When it is hot that is what I will mainly drink. A cold glass of water that has ice in it. I enjoy my ice in my water. It quenches my thirst. I have lived in many places where it was very hot. I had no choice but to drink cold water with ice in it. I don't know if I can ever pass off water that has ice in it.

I don't think it is good for me... I may catch cold if I drink ice cold water for a very long time. Apart from it,it hurts my teeth and my mouth and I have also noticed that it deteriorated my voice. It affects more in summer days.I prefer normal filtered water.

Normally, i don't drink ice water everyday. I only drink ice water when the weather is really very warm and i am craving for something cold to drink, to cold down my body. As for now, the weather is very cold, so i rarely drink ice water. if i drink a lot of ice water during cold weather, i can easily fall ill with running nose. That's why, i only drink ice water during hot weather, so that i won't have any health problem like easily fall ill. Now, i prefer to drink the normal room temperature water or perhaps some warm water as well, to keep me warm.

Hi ronny, in the summer I keep bottles of water in the deep freeze and then take them out with me as bottles of ice as this keeps the water much colder in the heat. If I just had normal water in the car or on the beach it would be too warm to drink after a few minutes. Taking ice in the car ensures a refreshing drink even after an hour of driving.
