I have people on my msn and facebook, that either can't type for crap, or can't spell. for example they shorten up words, spell so many words wrong, bad grammar, and no punctuation.
Here is something i took from facebook as someone's status
"just wiching that life would get easer on me cuz i tell you its benn hard the last week it feels like im in my own world but yeah i just guess thats life i just hope the right man would come my way soon........I Love You Alexis...She's Getting To Be So Big Can't Wait Tell Christmas Mommy Got You SO Menny Thing's Sweetheart...."
I pity that child when she get old enough to learn to read and write LOL

hi fallengurl well what do you modern people think with all the silly text talk you use, the u for you and so on and on, now so many people have actually forgotten how to spell words. they have forgotten their grammar, the right words to use. it all goes back to an artificial language that ruins the English vocabulary completely.

Even when i text, i still type the words in full, but these people i'm talking about grew up speaking english, it's the only language they know, and are all either in high school or done it, and this is the way they type, lol , i dont understand

No i find most on there that are not understandable must be people with different languages, which is completely understandable.
as for my name, lol, that was a way a friend of mine spelt it years ago, and i just kept it, but i was wondering if anyone was going to pick up on that :P

I hate it when I can't type!! There are times, on this site, that I am typing away and not all of the letters show up! I have to go back and enter all of the missed letters in and sometimes, even then, I miss a letter here and there! Not sure way this happens, but it is only sometimes! Happy Mylotting!!

Hi PSmith: well this is a special case and it's not your fault but our friend is talking about people that prefers to commit grammar mistakes because they find it that it looks cool or something like that. I hope we can have the option to edit our discussions in case we just want to make a review of our own posts because when you write too fast you forget to write some things unintentional. Thanks for your answer Psmith. Hope you are having a nice day. Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays and Happy New Year. Take Care.

Hi fallen gurl: I speak spanish and i can tell you that it's the same here, i think people beleive is cool to short their words but it's actually ridiculous. When you write something is because you want that everybody understand what you are talking about and this way people write it's so confusing, looks ugly and don't respect a minimum number of rules of grammar. Generally teens made this but I have seen this way of typing in adults. Incredible. Thanks for starting this discussion. Hope you are having a nice day. Merry Christmas/ Happy Holidays and Happy New Year. Take Care.

It's really bad when everything they write is spelt so badly, i wonder sometimes if this is how they write with a pen, how in the world did they ever get through school? i can handle typo's thats a mistake, but when you get people that constantly write like that, gets to be to much.
Happy New Year to you too!!

i can tolerate bad spelling..as long as i can understand them.
it's the ones who write in all text speak that drive me up the wall.
you can tell that must be all they do all day.

Well, I could not blame anyone if they could not type the right spelling of words especially if English is not their own language. In case it is their own language and they have the wrong spelling it only mean they have been misuse the languages as they only have good remark in speaking and pronunciation and yet when it comes to to writing they likely fail. in case it is intentional then they have to laugh on it and the reader felt some fun too and sometimes become boring when taken seriously they end up writing or telling jokes which is unnecessary..

I dislike it too but for some other people around the world, english is not thier first language so they have to learn and there is always the tendency of making errors when learning a new language

I think texting has a lot to do with it. People have gotten too addicted to texting that they even type with shortened words with missing words too so as to make it easier to type. I am not bothered with it actually as long as I can understand the essence of what the person is saying. English is not my first language so who am I to require anyone to be perfect.. Anyway, recently I bought this new desktop computer because my laptop was sent back to its manufacturer and the keyboard really sucks. Now there's another reason for me to not get angry with those people who often misspell something because it might just be due to their stupid keyboard. I have gone back to a few of my discussions and I noticed myself having too many missing "e", "r", "a", etc. i hope no one got pissed lol. Now for this entry, I took extra care so I wont make a lot of errors. If you still find errors..I am truly sorry. hehehe ;)

It can be difficult to understand but I guess it's hard for those whose main language is not English. Some are not yet concerned with spelling because they are focusing on the speaking skill. Just give them time to learn the language.

English is the only language this person knows, and she's 18 or 19 with a baby. I just think if your going to be constantly on the computer talking to people, learn to spell better, so people can understand what you are saying.

I'm usually not a grammar nazi, but when I see text that shows they got the education of a 5 year old, then yeah i think something is wrong with that picture don't ya think so? lol. Just wish that people would double check and not be so damn lazy.

You know, I do find it rather irksome. Especially when it gets to a point where you can't understand what the person is trying to say. Then you have all of that bad grammar, spelling and odd abbreviations slipping into real life. I know someone who was writing a cover letter to go with her resume and asked me to proofread it. I found a few places where the word "be" was substituted with "B" and the word "too" was substituted with "2." Could you imagine if she hadn't had me check it over? I'd personally laugh my rear end off before tossing that resume in the trash.

I don't get upset by it, really. I think I am just so used to seeing it everywhere. Here on mylot there is a lot of it and much of that is because for so many, English is not their native language. I do wonder about the schooling of some young people that were born and raised here in the U.S. How in the heck did they even make to high school and still not be able to spell even the simplest of words? Some of them actually graduate and can't spell or form sentences any better than the example you just used.

I notice that there are a lot of people that do this kind of thing as well and it also drives me up the wall. I think that the reason that it drives me so insane is because of the fact that I write and so I am fairly anal about spelling and punctuation. Honestly, the backspace key is my very best friend because if I wasn't to use it, I would be as full of typos as the facebook status that you've put on here.
