Do you feel that is you have been drinking you are safer riding a bike rather than driving a car would there be less deaths and or accidents with a bike? Well apparently in Amsterdam if your drunk like a skunk its quite ok to jump on a bike and peddle yourself any were you please. For more info go to yahoo news article entitled "Party while you pedal: Beer biking in Amsterdam" .

That's pretty funny actually, because I have done this. First of all, Its not safe to use anything other than your own feet, or someone else who is not drinking, to travel anywhere when you are drunk. However, Between getting behind the wheel of a car or riding a bike it is far better to ride the bike. To make it clear, I have never driven a car while intoxicated, but I have gotten on my bike and traveled short distances. In either case your senses are diminished, but at least with a bike you can use the sidewalk or bike path, and you are far less likely to kill or injure yourself or someone else while riding a bike. For the record I did things like this when I was young and stupid. So boys and girls dont try this at home, If you must go somewhere after a night drinking please have some common sense and either get someone to take you, or walk.

hi wow I could never imagine riding a bike or a car while drunk I remember one time I got to drunk and walking was like being on a roller coaster that never stopped. I am glad to hear that you don't do anymore. I am glad that you posted to young boys and girls that this is something NOT to do. I also want to say that your post is another best response.

I've found that walking isn't such a good idea sometimes. I prefer to stay at home or in the company of many good friends.

I think neither of that are safe. If you get drunk, better stay indoor and sleep until you get back to yourself. Even walking when getting drunk can be a danger. If you have drunk driving or drunk ride, that can be more danger to other people, but drunk walking may have more danger to yourself. For your own safety and for others, please take a rest if you get drunk. Take care, and happy new year.

I agree with the masses, it would be best to take the bike. I dont think there would be much of a problem riding a bike on the sidewalk even when pretty well plastered. The most that might happen is a few falls. This assumes that you dont ride into traffic. I can see how it would be a funny drunken sport in Europe. If the roads were cleared of traffic it would be quite ammusing to watch a whole lot of people drunken pedalling.

I wouldn't drive or ride anything while drunk, be it car, horse or bike. Or boat, but then I'm not safe in a boat even when I'm sober. Of course, you're less likely to kill someone else with a bike but you're more likely to get yourself killed or injured, and that's not fair towards whoever hit either. Or friends and family.

Just riding a bike is better because you will be the only one hurt. You won't die unless you fall in a deep ravine or something. But holding your balancw whle drunk like hell is hard enough.

If there is only these two choices then, the second option is safer but the riding should be in a less traffic place. But i prefer not to use any ride when a person is drunk instead he can ask his friends to leave him home safely.

A friend of mine was recently injured on his bike when he was drunk. He just fell off and was a little sore the next day but if you ask him, he'll tell you he wishes he'd just walked.

Fewer people are going to get hurt when you drunkenly crash your bicycle into the side of a building but I don't think either activity is "safe."

It is definitely safer to drunk bicycle than drunk drive. Not to say that it is safe, but the possible damage is greatly diminished. I have personal experience that tells me to stay away from any kind of vehicle when intoxicated. If you drink to excess, the best policy would be to do it where you have no need to travel. I try to restrict my own drinking to places within stumbling distance of a bed.
