Do You Expect an Unusually Huge Amount of Flowers Come Spring?

All this Winter, throughout most of the U.S. & other places around the Northern Hemisphere, we've seen record snowfall & rain. The last time I saw even near this much precipitation, our area had an astonishing coverage of wildflowers when Spring arrived. Yes, Texas does have a "beautify the roads" wildflowers project, begun by "Lady Bird" Johnson (may she rest in peace), but usually, the flowers only run just alongside the roads & sometimes they've spread out a little ways into nearby fields. Perhaps a block or two worth. Bluebonnets, especially, do this.
Not so that Spring! I had the opportunity to take a country drive to "Enchanted Rock," which is in the midst of some rolling plains. On that trip, I saw very little green on the ground, as it was literally blanketed with blooms of all sorts! Bluebonnets--thicker than I've ever seen, before or since! Thistles! Indian Blanket, Winecups, Daisies, Honeysuckle, Trumpet Vines, Nettle, Bluets, Wild Mustard, Wild Onions! Primroses & Sweet Peas! Rain Lilys, Indian Paintbrush, Buttercups & countless others! And they went all the way to the horizon on every side!
I had the urge to just get out & go roll in this rich tapestry! But any native Texan knows better; too many things in this state bite, sting, scratch & poke, some poisonous, all painful! But what a feast for the eyes!!
So! Given all the moisture we're getting, do you think where you live there might be such a glorious sight? If so--please take photos & share!

I wish I was there to get some photos. I love taking pictures of flowers.
and pets. :-)
I don't know what to expect- we don't have so many open places for wildflowers to grow around here. (in the city that is)
But I'm all up for taking a drive in the country and looking for some wildflowers in the spring.
I like to get lots of flowers.. I then post the good ones on zazzle and make greeting cards and postage stamps and even some awesome mugs from them..
I recently sold a couple of mugs using a photo of some beautiful pansies, snapdragons, violets and a few other things.. The photo came out so lovely.
The bad part was I never did get to plant those flowers. The photo I took was right after A bought them and I arranged them on my front porch..
But they are still making me money.. :-) I' don't think it's quite paid for the amount I spent on them and wasted by not putting them in the ground yet though.. I did fell really bad. Poor flowers.
Check this out- I'm not exuberantly proud of everything I make.
But I think this came out awesome.. And if I had a beautiful Airy kitchen in a house on a mountain side - I could see having a whole set of these to brifghten up the kitchen..

Now I wish it was spring so I could go flower hunting..

I went there, joined zazzle, & left a note for you! You'd love Texas in the Spring. The pretty red-bud trees, the lovely wildflowers, everything but the snakes, maybe.
Sorry to make you wistful for Spring. Personally, I'm enjoying the cold weather. If you had to endure our miserably overcooked Summers, you probably would cheer at the first nip in the air, too!
Thanks for sharing that photo. Makes me feel the warm breezes through that window in your mountainside house. (Did I mention I adore mountains? ).
Now don't forget to post a few pics come Spring! ;o

Oh -will do. I have a few other good spring flower pics on zazzle.
look under mugs and posters and mouse pads for the good shots.
or the cards- I turned lots of flower pics into cards!
And you can too- take some pics of those wildflowers.. and earn some extra cash with them.
I told one of my facebook friends about zazzle 2 weeks ago..
she has a slew of Collies and her husbands Great Pyrnese And he travel a lot for
work in the midwest so she was constantly posting these GORGEOUS scenic shots
So I told her she should post them on zazzle and make some things.. As I made over $200 this year. AND her photos are much better than mine- she can earn more...
In the first week she had a sale! she's stoked now.. lol
Thanks for the comment on my zazzle page.. :0)
I will certainly post pics and I hope to see some from you as well.

I'm afraid I lack the means. Even if I had a camera phone or another good camera, & even if I could convince Elic to take me for a country drive, & even if I knew how to transfer them to computer & then get them onto Zazzle, I couldn't; I'd have put myself in competition with you! And while I might choose other subjects than flowers, I still lack all the rest.
No, hun, I'll be content with looking at your lovely work, thanks!
(snipola) Thanks for the comment on my zazzle page...:o)
De nada, muchacha! It was a nice visit!
I will certainly post pics and I hope to see some from you as well.
Not likely I'll post any, unless I can borrow a scanner, plus, as I said, I have no camera, so any I might post would be oldies (but goodies! :o) But I'm looking forward to seeing more from you!

Hi Mags, our wild flowers, which are generally roadside and in the olive groves, start around February and are wonderful. My olive grove will be full of poppies and tiny orchids mainly, as well as what I think are snowdrops and something like bluebells which aren't. The wild sage and thymne surrounds it all, together with the smells of mint and garlic which are incredibly difficult to spot, especially the mint, as it grows flat on the ground. Along the road to town over the mountain they have a project each year to cut the flowers down for car safety which is a shame but it is an incredibly dangerous road, but if you drive up one of the mountain side roads the olive groves will be blanketed with wild flowers. Totally stunning.

Wow! Got pictures? Because I'd surely love to see that! Greece is so beautiful anyway. It seems almost as though flowers added to the landscape would make a person swoon from just trying to take all that in!

Did you not have a lot of rain where you live this past year? I hope you get some planted in time. I'm so lazy I only plant perennials! Well, actually, Elic plants them for me, as I'm too disabled. I only have a tiny patio on which to grow things, but I'm pleased just to know there's a bit of greenery (& occasionally, flowers) out there, even when I can't see it!

Oh, you're in Tennessee! That's such a lovely state! I've been through it in Summer & in Autumn, but never in Spring. If it's even half as beautiful in that season as the two I mentioned, then I wish I could go see it!
I know how you feel. If only Winecups & Rain Lilies grew year round! It would not only be gorgeous, it would smell like Heaven!
