I have can tell that I have started to get old because I dont listen to new music anymore. I was a child of the 80's and 90's who also loves music from the 60's and 70's, and I just cant seem to get into todays music. This can be quite depressing because I do like to hear new music. Is this what happens to all people when you start to age?

Blame it on American Idol for the resulting bland manufactured music. They don't have anything to say. And those who have something to say, say it with no melody. Back in the day, bands were able to combine both music and lyrics.

I was a child of the 60s and have liked all sorts of music from Glen Miller, Easy listening music. 60s 70s 80s. Barbra Sriesand glory you name it i like it. But somehow todays music is pathetic to say the least. There are no lyris where have they gone and what lyris they have it is repetitive
I dont think that music is an age thing i just think it is about your taste.Even if i were born in the 80s and 90s i would still like the music i often listen to.
So believe me you are not getting old yet
lots of love theskerne

This is quite true as todays music are basically not good. These videos spoil the children of small ages not good in seeing with families but not so every music video or music in listening is not good .I would suggest you to become more positive in yourself as such like a child develops in to a man or woman a person has to develop his thoughts as well as with modern world . you can choose music of your choice as there are many musical theaters where people show there talent of voice you should join musical institution to help you to develop new music in the way by trying to sing which will in yourself develop you to make new music

i think its pretty narrow minded (no offense meant) to say that music today isnt good. there's great music out there, you just have to dig a little. im a big fan of old punk rock, but that doesnt mean i cant find new bands nowadays. i suggest going to local shows, whether you know the bands or not. you might just find something you like.
i do think a lot of music nowadays sounds processed and cheap, but i find the occasional diamond in the rough so to speak. comparing music today as a whole to the 70's 80's and 90's seems kinda weird to me though... apples and oranges you know?

I am also a child of the 80's and 90's (born in '84), and I do not think that music is as good as it used to be. There is some good music out there in this decade, but it does not begin to compare to the 80's and 90's.

I dont think that the music is sick these days, the music is good as well as the songs, the middle era has some easy going songs, weak at places and not too touching also but now the songs are great, I listen it everytime.

I still listen to new music but not the stuff on the radio. There are so many manufactured, built-from-a-kit pop bands on the radio that it's next to impossible to tell them apart. So I go outside the mainstream radio. I listen to free internet radio and find a lot of good new bands on there. And old bands creating new music.
And I, too, am a child of the 80's, born in 1980. People talk about using the television as a babysitter for their kids...my parents used the radio. I'd get up in the morning, have my breakfast, maybe watch some cartoons and then I'd park in front of the stereo and listen to an AM oldies station for hours. Especially in my generation, people can usually remember the first Beatles song they ever heard, or Elvis Presley song, but I have no idea because of that oldies radio station that served as my babysitter when I was a kid. So having been exposed to music all my life, I definitely have a basis for comparison

hi jhess,
I was born on the 80's and I love 80's and 90's music. I also appreciate today's music although it seems that every artist sing the same song meaning, they sound almost the same. I like rnb and soul but, what I have noticed is, there are only few good songs which you can listen to on a longer period of time. And i don't know what's wrong with MTV and channel V right now, they always play lady gaga's new song like more than 8 times in one day. haha! Oh!!! I like lady gaga but, I already memorized the song's lyrics plus the dance choreography of the video. haha!

I feel exactly the way you do. I was born in '84 and feel like the music is nowhere as sincere as the music from the early 90s and before. There are occasional songs that I think are good, but it is very rare. I have to say though, when I am able to find a new artist that I think is worth listening too, it is exciting and like finding a diamond in the rough. :)

I'm young, but sometimes I do feel like today's music has become so repetitive and shallow. Same RnB melodies, same hiphop beats, and same profane lyrics (though I admit, there are really some upbeat songs that I love). There are only a few really beautiful, heartwarming songs nowadays, songs that were very dominant decades ago.
