dear friends on myLot, i like to shop especially during holidays and i am thinking of clothes. but then i read on this article which i want to share with you all. it says that when buying clothes, one should be aware of new clothes laced with "anti-wrinkle" treatments or other chemicals like Teflon. i have read from encyclopedia that Teflon is a strong, tough, waxy, nonflammable resin belonging to the family of organic polymers, substances composed of large molecules formed by chemical combination of many small ones (monomers) into chains or networks. Known by the abbreviation PTFE or the trade name Teflon, it is distinguished by its complete indifference to attack by almost all chemicals and by its slippery surface; it retains its physical properties over a wide temperature range (-270 to 250 C, or -450 to 480 F). These qualities suit polytetra-fluoroethylene to uses in gaskets, bearings, linings for containers and pipes, and parts for valves and pumps that must operate in corrosive environments and for protective coatings on cooking utensils, saw blades, and other articles. Many of the clothing items now sold as performance wear are actually coated in highly toxic chemicals. http://www.naturalnews.com/027825_terrorists_underwear.html. do you always read the labels carefully before buying? ann

Hi friend, i am highly conscious about my skin, so i use branded cotton cloths. I have a habit, i never wear any cloth just after shopping it. I bring it to my home and wash it, then i wear. Thanks.

dear shibham, i am very glad that you feel that way about skin. having skin allergies is a great problem so your being keen in choosing what type to wear is very positive. and the habit? its a very good practice as well.. wash before you wear. cheers, ann

Hi Ann My friend uses synthetic undergarments, i mean those are not cotton and they last so long, but he suffered from skin diseases for a very long time, it was incurable, he had to use several medicices, herbal preparations to get rid of this I really donot understand why these should be done? dear professor, we should buy 100 percent natural fabric when buying cloths. i dont think there was anyone who complained of allergies using it. that which has some synthetic materials in it is not safe. paying attention to what we buy should always be a priority when buying clothes. thank you for your response. happy mylotting. ann

I usually only buy 100 percent natural fabric when I buy cloths, but will start to pay even more attention to these products in the future. Thanks

Hi Ann, Do they actually put it down that this particular cloth contains chemicals like Teflon? How do I make out whether the cloth contains it or not?

Yes, this is true. Sadly many are just not aware how many toxic chemicals are coming in contact with their bodies these days. I have known a few people over the years who have ended up with cancer and they and there families are shocked. They say "She never smoked, so why did she get cancer" or "he did not go out in the sun and get burned over and over again". Most people do not realise that there are cancer and other disease causing chemicals in the food that they are cooking, the pots and fry-pans that they are using to cook with, their clothing, make-up and many other objects that they use on a day to day basis. I have started living a more organic lifestyle with the foods that I eat and the products that I use (including clothing) and have stopped using loads of unnecessary products that were harmful to me anyway.

dear rawbill, sorry for the delayed reply to your comment. i agree with you. and manufacturers seem to be adamant in putting that on their labels. organic lifestyle is the best. eating food that were grown with organic fertilizers is very safe. and so are the natural fabrics. ann
