I`m a Romanian guy and one of our traditions is : Sarmalute with mamaliguta . I`m pretty sure that you`ve heared about sarmalute . It`s not so hard to make them . If you`ll search the net for a while , you`ll find the ingredients and how to make sarmalute. I`m pretty sure that you will love that , althrought you must not eat too many .
Happy new year !

It`s not sweet . You will need this : Meat , sheets of sauerkraut and some egs ,and some other things, it depends... But You will take some meat in your hand, and make it a little round ,and then you will roll that in a sheet of sauerkraut , then you`ll make that sheet to stay , like you do with a gift . and so on, for each sarmaluta ( sarmalute are more sarmaluta single one ) . Then all that you will make, you`ll put them in a pot and chopped sauerkraut at the bottoom . Then after you`ll add all the sarmalute , you will add a little water and some condiments, and you will let that to boil a while . Then sarmalutele will be ready to eat . They can be eat with cream or with mamaliguta with cream and cheese . You will never forget that taste ! If you want to eat a really traditional food, come to Romania and ask for sarmalute with mamaliguta .

Our cooking during such occasions are influenced by our Chinese roots so we make sure that there is machang (rice with pork, chicken, eggs and steamed in lotus leaves), pork adobo, and sweets. Today my mom and I made ube halaya, which is a sweet dish.
