Would you seriously consider the Tapeworm Diet?

OK, it's been on TV in the States and has probably made lots of people so nauseous that they've had to order an extra pizza just to calm down. I've written a slightly satirical article on the Tapeworm Diet that, however, includes some real pointers as to where to go if you really, truly, madly, deeply want a live-in parasite as your ticket to weight loss. There are dangers, the "diet" is illegal in the USA - so why show it on TV?? - but it has aroused curiosity. Would you seriously consider this as a diet? Would you go to Mexico to have the treatment? Do you think the FDA should approve the treatment?

Tapeworm (aka Cestoda) - Also called fish, beef or pork tapeworms
Just when you think you've heard it all..... I had to look this one up. I knew you had to be joking. But...lo and behold....there is such a thing. People actually took tapeworm pills that claimed to have live tapeworm larvae back in the early 1900s. I guess someone has revived it. To each his and her own. My response to your question is NO! NO! H@#! NO! I love food, but that is utterly ridiculous. There are healthy ways to lose weight without resorting to something that can further harm you. Who's to say the worm will stay in your intestines. You can get worms (also known as parasites) in your lungs and even in your brain. Why risk it? This diet and all of the other unsafe crap they have on the market to lose weight should be banned by the FDA. People who make this junk have no consideration or compassion for desperate people with health problems who are looking for any way they can to overcome their disorder. They need to be stopped. Sure, some people can withstand abusive things in their body and survive. That does not mean it is safe. FDA reform is a topic for another day. They do not do enough to protect us. In some cases they ares stupid in what they go after (like Cheerios oat cereal) and in other cases, they allow harmful meds to go to market. No thank you. I will take the easy way out for dieting - eat right and exercise.

oops! forgot to add my own article link: http://linkbee.com/trendwagon28 This goes to my TrendWagon blog. [BTW how does one add a hyperlink to text? will just html do? kinda newbie here and can't find an article on this.] Yes, there can be complications and side-effects with having your pet parasite. But apparently the life-cycle of the cow tapeworm is well known and not dangerous to humans, although best to evacuate your friend before it starts to reproduce, which it does asexually, or, rather, hermaphroditically.

Your link took me to a game site and then to a generic search site. Re: your comment about it best to evacuate your "pet" parasite before it starts to multiply, how do you know unless you have x-rays? Best to stay away from this thing. Avoid trouble. Eat right and exercise my friend. You will be healthier in the end. No pun intended.

I can not believe this, this is stupid and how many would really want to be sick to lose weight? If someone is that desperate or have aneroxia or bulemia would probably take this but they would really need to have serious help. I could and would not take this to lose weight no matter how desperate I am. This I have never seen on TV in my area and would hope it would never come to this. NO NO and NO I would not use this!!
